I use the De-Shadow Box for my web site product images. Received the order late November 2013 and while shooting some product one of the bulbs started blinking, then the top half went out. Shortly the bottom half started blinking and they went out. When I called to get a replacement bulb, should be under warranty, the young hard to understand Hispanic lady stated that I might have to return the whole De-shadow Box to get a replacement bulb. I then called the sales office because the web site specifications for the replacement bulb with the same SKU are different than the specs on the bulb box. They could not answer my question and had to call the purchasing department to inquire. He then came back and stated that I really need a completely differnet bulb than what I had. It was obvious that neither the sales nor the purchasing departments know their products. The bulb I received with the order was the VRDSB16T whose spec are 4W 290 Lumens with 58 LEDs. The web site for this same part number stated 6.6W 340 Lumens and 96 LEDs. all I wanted to know is which specs are correct for that part number. Never got an answer.

I wanted this to take pictures of flower arrangements to use in producing greeting cards. Designed well and gives a choice of backgrounds. Lights and tripods are great in and of themselves. Good purchase.

I use the light to photograph and copy art work affixed to a wall. The 2 lights are quite powerful and easy to set up. I wish the manufacturer had provided the lights with some diffusion caps or encasings.

My purpose was to keep learning with my camera through the winter -- and tabletop still-lifes suit my purpose. And the De-Shadow Box kit with LED lights is a useful tool for that. The constant-output LED lamps are cool to the touch, don't use much electricity, and don't shatter in case of accident. Safety first! They cast a bright, even light. I did purchase one more lamp and a taller stand to add more light from above. I really like these lights and their stands. The fabric De-Shadow box itself has its limitations, but it's adequate to its purpose. Diffusion through the white fabric sides and top is good. Velcro strips hold the box together and hold the fabric backgrounds in place. The product photo may not make clear that the box has no bottom -- it is simply two sides and a top. The back of the box is formed by the opaque black case, which supports the whole. The white background fabric is fairly translucent but backing it with the gray solves that. The box is cheaply made -- but it serves its purpose. The lights are what makes this kit worth recommending.

I use this product to shoot still lifes, products, etc. The lighting is good for macros when combined with an overhead Ott light. It is portable and I can see that coming in handy when attending workshops. Although there is a 16" size, I am glad I ordered the 20" as it gives me more headroom for objects to be photographed..

I believe this box to be well worth the price difference between it and the smaller 16" x 16" box.

I photograph my handmade jewelry, and quite frankly, you'd be better off using household lamps. The lights are very cheaply made (plastic? really?)for the price. The tent is great, though. I shoot closeups of my work, and the lights are too tall to get any illumination on the piece. I lay them down and that helps a little, but like I said, the output is weak at best. I find the price too high for what you get.
Disappointed

Have been using it to photograph several watches and other pieces of jewelry to put on [@]. For the price, it works perfectly.

Adding a white base would be useful.

I use this for shooting product images for weekly fliers as well as auctions and just general messing around. The only cons are the light stands are rather short (but much better set up then the lower priced deshadow box) and I wish it came with a 3rd light or at least a better carrying case and there is no pockets/pouches for the lights and stands. But for me that's rather minor, this product works great for my uses.
