This is not a fast lens (at f/5.6); however, it's quite small, light-weight, good construction, and is sharp even wide open. I purchased it with the Voigtlander M-Bayonet Adaptor F/12/21/35, as I purchased this lens for mainly outdoors use as my widest Leica M9 lens. However, with the somewhat improved ISO handling of the Leica M9, I am finding this lens is quite sharp and effective when used indoors, without flash, as well. Quality of this lens, it's small size, and bargain price, warrants it being in the bag of any Leica M shooter, in my opinion; and, this lens compliments my Leica 24/ 1.4, 50/0.95 and 90/2.0 lenses well, as the current widest possible lens for use on a Leica M Body. It's also sufficiently wide enough that it won't overlap with the Leica WATE 16/18/21mm lens, should I decide to still purchase one in the future. On my Nikon D3 and D700, I occasionally use either my Nikkor 14/2.8 or Nikkor 14-24/2.8 lenses for wide shots; and, other than being slower, this 12mm Voigtlander lens, is even wider on my Leica M9 -- and, a lot easier to carry and travel with. :-)
