This lens is extremely well made (above Canon build quality, up to Zeiss standards) and renders nice colors and contrast. It's also really small and pretty light. This + Canon's 40mm pancake makes for an inexpensive and extremely convenient travel setup. If you have a full frame sensor and sharp corners are important to you, be prepared to stop down and still be a little disappointed (if that's you, you should look into the Voigtlander 28mm for Canon). I use it on a 5DII, and lack of corner sharpness + vignetting doesn't bother me - its awesome size makes up for those faults. It's certainly not distracting, it's just not up to Canon's or Zeiss' ultra wide angle standards. On a crop sensor most users should be plenty happy with it. In daylight, operation of this lens can be extremely fast. When shooting at f/8, focus can be set to infinity and you'll get basically everything from around 7 feet and further in focus. No AF to wait for on shutter release makes it really snappy. This makes it great for street shooting.

Want a small, wide prime, that wont break the bank? This 20mm is a gem. The colors and overall IQ are superb. MF is less of a problem this wide. It is "chipped" for focus confirm as well. I use it on my t2i as a walk around lens giving me a 32mm prime. f/5.6 and smaller are super sharp. NOT for low light, NOT for anything moving. GREAT colors. Small and inconspicuous great for street. Built like a tank.
