After reading a very thorough review at fred miranda forums about this beautiful lens I could not resist anymore. I primarily shoot landscape and I love anything in the 20-25mm focal length especially. I do have a zeiss milvus 25mm 1.4 ZF.2 lens as well that I use with an adapter on my A7RIII that I love as well. This voigtlander reminds me much of that zeiss rendering and pop to the images. What I find astonishing about this lens is the beautiful smooth focus and incredible micro contrast and details to every picture even shot wide open at F/1.4. What's also truly unique to this lens that almost no other lens does is have unique beautiful sunstars already at F/2! Lens flare is reasonably well controlled and vignetting although a bit on heavy side adds a special look to the images that I love! Overall I cannot recommend this lens enough if you love manual focus and you are a fan of that zeiss pop. They definitely have some zeiss magic dust in this lens!

Fun to use lens

This Lens is manual focus. It is really easy to focus. I enjoy using this lens. It has a unique look that captures in the photo.
The NOKTON designation is only given to high-speed lenses in the Voigtlander lineup with a maximum aperture of F1.5 or faster. When the first NOKTON was released in the 1950s, it was positioned as a lens that enabled images to be captured even in low light. However, with constantly improving imaging sensor sensitivity, the advantage of a high-speed lens nowadays is the ability to use as a means of photographic expression the out-of-focus bokeh created by opening the aperture.
The NOKTON 21mm F1.4 Aspherical E-mount is a large maximum aperture manual focus lens optimized for the imaging sensors of Sony mirrorless cameras. The 21mm focal length covers an angle of 91 Degree which is about 10 Degree wider than a 24/25mm focal length to create a super dynamic perspective. Generally, the wider a lens gets the deeper the depth of focus of the lens, but with the NOKTON 21mm F1.4 Aspherical E-mount lens, the extremely large maximum aperture for a super wide-angle lens enables imaging that utilizes "bokeh" (out-of-focus blur).
The minimum focusing distance of 25cm can be used to emphasize the thin depth of focus in the close range. The lens utilizes a floating mechanism to maintain excellent imaging quality throughout the focusing range from close distance to infinity. Furthermore, the lens features aspherical optics to eliminate distortion and chromatic aberrations in addition to enabling a compact optical design despite the large maximum aperture.
The aperture ring has click stops in 1/3 steps. The lens also features a click stop switching mechanism that enables the click stops to be turned off when shooting video. The included petal Hood can be attached/removed easily for hassle-free filter work, and can be attached in reverse for easy storage.
