I got this lens for use on my Fuji X-Pro1 & only used it for a short time before I traded the camera in for a used Leica M-240 body. And I have discovered that while the lens is prone to vignetting quite a bit on the M, if you select the Elmarit M 21mm f/2.8 in the lens choices, the Leica 6-bit coding works to eliminate almost all of the corner problems. And there are no color problems along any of the edges as well. Plus it is a very well constructed & easy to operate lens. Set it to f/8 & everything from 3' to infinity is in focus, making it perfect for street work or casual shooting. All in all an excellent little ultra wide pancake!

I have not yet studied the corners of images made with this lens and the Sony a7r. But the image does not appear to vignette and looked good in the camera. I am using the camera and this lens in particular as a backup to a medium format camera, but from all I have seen would not hesitate to purchase the lens again for use with the Sony a7r.

I owned a number of M series lens. You pay a small fortune for the "red dot". Cannot knock the quality of the Solms glass, but when you buy and use this lens ( I decided to sell my M6 and Bessa bodies as frankly loading from the bottom may appeal to the Leica elitist diehards, but life was not meant to be that hard! This lens offers superb performance, the more so when compared to the , to my pocket, outrageous price of the Solms offering. Admit though, find it difficult to go past the lovely 50/2 Summicron I put on my Bessa bodies. Just superb, and yes Cosnia/Voigtlander may not be far behind, but as the 50 mm lens is relatively simple, it is one M series lens that is comparatively affordable.

Just learning to use an M8; I exchanged the Voigtlander 28mm Ultron for this (thank you, Adorama!) This is everything I was looking for: amazing sharpness and dynamic range; beautiful color. It is also very well built; aperture and focus are smooth. The image does slop over the rangefinder view, so I understand why some would use an external viewfinder. But that's rangefinder, isn't it? You learn your lenses, and I hope to spend many happy years learning this one.

I WAS LOOKING FOR A WIDE ANGLE LENS FOR MY LEICA M8. THIS LITTLE JEWEL FITS THE BILL PERFECTLY. ... THE LEICA 21MM IS 3K OR MORE. THE ZEISS 21MM OVER 1K. THIS LENS HOLDS ITS OWN VERY WELL. I THOUGHT FOR [$] IT WOULD BE INFERIOR IN BUILT AND OPTICALLY...... WRONG!! THIS LENS IS WELL BUILT , TINY AND PRODUCES SHARP CONTRASTY IMAGES FOR LANDSCAPE AN OTHER APPLICATIONS THAT REQUIRES A WIDE LENS (28MM VIEW ON THE LEICA M8) THE LENS HOOD THAT COMES WITH THIS LENS IS TOO SMALL, YOU CAN GET A VOIGTLANDER LH-1 LENS HOOD.

This works great on my Leica M8. Great for street photography, landscape and for travel. Don't need an external viewfinder due to a 28mm coverage in the viewfinder . Slight corner softness is seen. If you are using it for architecture look for something costing at least 2k. However for anything else , it's worth it's weight in gold. Great contrast, saturation and sharpness .

The Voigtlander Color-Skopar 21mm f/4.0 Pancake lens with the VM lens mount, is designed especially for use with the Bessa R4M/R4A cameras, and will work on any camera that uses the Leica M mount.
With the Bessa R4M/R4A cameras that have a built-in bright frame for 21mm, the necessity to use an external viewfinder is eliminated. This ultra-compact wide-angle lens features exceptional close focusing capability, as close as 1.5' (0.5 m).
The focusing lever allows you you to go from minimum distance to infinity in less than a 90 degrees rotation. The Apertures is selected via the click-stop diaphragm.
With an exellent depth of field scale, the 10 blade, circular aperture will produce smooth and natural renditions of defocused images, with nearly circular shapes of light point sources.
