A great lense I've actually bought it twice. This lens is a must have for any nighttime film shooters esp with leica however this lense also is amazing adapted. Good rendering good heft and weight as well as a good starting character.

Really good lens. I love how it renders, and the build quality is top tier.

I adapted this lense to my lumix S5, because of the lack of native L mount glass (heavy sigma lenses are not an option for me) and I love everything about this lense! The build quality, image quality, the handling, the way it renders the image, the colors... just everything!

This lens is quality personified. Easy to acquire focus, sharp with accurate focus and colors. Build quality unlike any lens I've ever owned. It reminds me when I was intimidated to drive a manual transmission car. Now, it's all I ever want to drive. Manually focusing a lens is the same way. I look for opportunities to use this lens. Worth the money I paid for it.

I got it a few weeks ago only, to be used on a7iii+techart pro. Since the techart pro pass my testing with my vintages lenses, mostly minolta Md's, I decided to invest in this lens (not without test a few others voigtlanders) in this mount version and not the emount , a very personal choice, full exif data vs Af, I choose AF. (because of techart pro) Eye Af work in most of the frame, is accurate and it follow the subject when move, combined with this optic the whole thing is just wonderful. It can easily become your only one lens to have if you need to choose for just one lens. As I said before I got a few others lenses before this one, all voigtlanders, the 35 1.2, the 40 mc 1.4 and this one was the last one and the one I decide to keep. The 35 is ok, but too heavy and not really sharp wide open ( I found this one sharper), then the 40 mc 1.4, I actually did like it even better than the 35 1.2 vII, and it was actually because I did like it so much the 40 mm angle of view that I went for this guy. Is sharper than the 40 1.4, than the 35 1.2 vii too, and it is just in the middle of those two regarding size and weight.

NOKTON 40mm F1.2 Aspherical Full Frame LensThe NOKTON designation is only given to high-speed lenses in the Voigtlander lineup with a maximum aperture of F1.5 or faster. When the first NOKTON was released in the 1950s, it was positioned as a lens that enabled images to be captured even in low light. However, with constantly improving imaging sensor sensitivity, the advantage of a high-speed lens nowadays is the ability to use as a means of photographic expression the out-of-focus bokeh created by opening the aperture.
The NOKTON 40mm F1.2 Aspherical VM features two elements each with two aspherical surfaces, so you can enjoy reliable optical performance from maximum aperture and gentle very out-of-focus bokeh. This lens shares the same optical configuration as the NOKTON 40mm F1.2 Aspherical E-mount lens, however the NOKTON 40mm F1.2 Aspherical VM is optically adjusted with consideration for use on both film and digital and features a focus-coupling cam that enables focusing with optical rangefinders.
This lens is focus coupled down to 70cm (varies lightly depending on the camera) and can focus down to a minimum distance of 50cm on digital cameras with a live view function. Furthermore, even though the lens has a large F1.2 maximum aperture, it realizes a very compact style with a weight of just 315 grams (lens on its own) for very light handling.
The 40mm Viewfinder M optical viewfinder with metal body is also available as an option for the NOKTON 40mm F1.2 Aspherical VM for use on rangefinder cameras that do not have a built-in 40mm frame line.
