Questions & Answers

Sal R : I have several cameras with different accessory shoe positions. Does the Voigtlander VC Meter II have an adjustable mount?TIMOTHY S : No, it does not. But in general, it's a good unit. I recommend it, especially to people who want to shoot with older rangefinder cameras without a built-in meter, for instance a Leica M-4. Far better than a vintage meter, which will be almost guaranteed not to work well.Kevin C : no adjustable mount, for instance a good tight fit on my Fujica 6x9 camera but a loose fit on my pen half frame due to metal post on the flash shoe accessory. Its a minor problem for me but depending on how old your camera is it could be an issue. Adorama has an excellent return policy if it does not work out. I found the meter a invaluable accessory and well worth the price. No problems with it in 18 months ownership and its metering capability is accurate enough for print film which is what I use.KENNETH M : The Voigtlander VC Meter II Shoe Mounted Speed Light Meter itself hasn't got an adjustable mount. However, you can buy an adidtional single or double cold shoe mount that may allow you to adjust the position of the Voigtlander Meter in accordance with your camera's design.NATHAN K : Hey Sal- the VC Meter II does not have an adjustable mount. It is quite sturdy, but one thing I dislike is that there's no locking mechanism to hold it in place. The mount relies on pressure from the shoe clips on the camera to stay in place.EPHRAIM N : No
David K : do you have the Voigtlander VC Meter II available in silver/chrome? If not, will you be able to stock any?ANDREW R : The silver version of the Voigtlander VC Meter II may be found here: <a href="http://www.adorama.com/VTVCM2.html" target="_blank">http://www.adorama.com/VTVCM2.html</a>
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?JAMES Z : I have just purchased a Leica M2 and need a reliable meter. I am told this is a good choice. I plan to try it and see.SHERWOOD S : The light meter is for a rangefinder that I own. Canon P

Love it!

This is by far the best meter for older cameras which don't have an internal meter, and maybe a good choice for some other situations, too. The camera must have an accessory shoe for mounting. It's best attribute is that when you press the button, it takes and HOLDS a light value reading, so that one can then adjust the f/stop and shutter speed dials while pointing the camera in ANY direction, which in practice is extraordinarily useful. Once one has determined the correct exposure on the meter, one must transfer that setting to the camera.

New Version is smart, easy to use

By Gordon

I use this meter on all handheld cameras that do not have an internal meter, or one that is not working.

The Voigtlander VC Meter is a very compact, accessory shoe mounted light meter for use with class cameras that have no metering system built in.

This manual, silicon-cell meter is designed to slide into the flash shoe of a variety of classic cameras such as Leica, Contax and Nikon rangefinders, which do not have TTL or other built-in light metering systems. The all-metal silver or black retro body will match to any classic camera a photographer or collector may have.

Meter operation is simple: Film speed is set by moving the inlaid dial to the correct ISO; shutter speed and aperture are selected by the two dials on top of the meter. Once a shutter/aperture combination has been selected, point the camera at the subject and press the orange button on the back to activate the meter. One of three LED's on top of the meter will light up indicating whether under, correct or over exposure.

There are three different dual-mounting adapters available. Each allows the meter to be used slightly offset on top of the camera with a viewfinder attached directly over the camera flash shoe.
