Questions & Answers

RUSSELL L : Is this work with HSM and/or SDM lenses? -RussBERT M : Vivitar's brief instruction manuel says the teleconverter may not focus properly on lenses less than 21mm. It does not. Converted to manuel focus, workes fine. Adorama has a 30 day - no questions asked return policy. I would get it home, and try it on my camera and lenses.
Jim G : What will this adapter do to the f stop if I use it with a 70-300mm f4-5.6 lense?ANDREW R : This unit will reduce the light entering the camera by about 1 to 1.5 stops depending on the unit.
randy r : when is this item expected to be in?ANDREW R : Unfortunately we have no estimated time of arrival for this item.

Put one in your everyday kit

I've had this inexpensive 1.4x teleconverter in my kit for a couple of years. I've used it with my D7100 and my D810. Also used with 18-300m Nikon DX, Tamron 150-600mm FX, and Sigma 85mm Art lens. It always works. It goes on snug but not too tight. As with any teleconverter it will darken a bit and the image quality suffers a little bit. For the price I have nothing to complain about, especially if just a bit more reach is needed. The attached photo was taken with a Vivatar 1.4 with a Nikon 18-300 @ 300mm on a D7100 using a 18stop ND filter.

Will not work with zoom lenses below 70mm

I wanted a good converter to work with my Nikons and assorted lenses. This converter does not work with my cameras or the lense I have.

Auto focus only works with some lenses

A little disappointed because it doesn't work with my main lenses: DA* 16-50 and Sigma 70-200 2.8 (HSM lenses just keep hunting and flashing) Somebody said don't use tele converter with wide angle lenses, but the auto focus works fine with the DA 18-250mm and FA 24-90mm and don't know why It doesn't work with my FA-100 2.8 (?!)

It Works on Auto Focus; K-5, and K10d

Finally. It took a very old friend "Vivitar" two tries, but this on really works. I do not write reviews but thought this one needed writing. Less than $100.00, great value. Tight fit even on my very used K10d. Two Tamron and one Pentax lens. A little slow finding infinity and focusing first start, Fine after that.

The Vivitar 1.4x Auto Focus Tele Converter for Pentax is an easy way to noticeably extend the reach (focal length) of compatible lenses. The 1.4x Tele Converter can be mounted between select lenses and the camera body to increase the focal length by the power of 1.4x. The new multi layer coating reduces flare and ghost, which is a common problem with digital cameras.

They also offer maximum photography magnification by 1.4 x, without any variation in the minimum focusing distance. Compact and lightweight, these teleconverters convert your lenses into longer focal-length lenses, so you don't have to do a lot of unnecessary footwork.
