No frills, just works
There are wireless remotes that can do more. There are remotes with more features built in, but this is a basic remote that does two things. Half click to focus and push it down all the way to take the shot. For macro shooting where all that is needed is a remote so pushing the on camera shutter doesn't shake the camera, this remote does just what is needed.
If all you need is a simple remote so you don't need to use the shutter button on the camera itself, this one does the job. Why pay for one with features you don't need or or duplicates functions you already have when shooting tethered or over WiFi?

Handy little toy. It is 3ft. long and has a trigger button that will lock for bulb exposures. Reasonably priced. Works great on my 7D. A must have for tripod photography.

remote release for canon slr
I have used others befor an always found that they would occassionally slip forward to the long exposere setting. This release seems to stay right where I want it...no accidental foward button movement.
