I have the wired and also this and this one is great so I go go the extra distance from the camera and it works. I have been about 35 feet from my D5300 and it works perfect.

Needed a remote to work with an older Pentax IST DL camera that I was using because it was lighter than my usual equipment. Worked fine with my camera and noted that there are some adapter cords that make it possible to use the same release with a variety of cameras. It is simple and easy to use. I have different releases with more functions for my primary equipment but this served my purposes and was not expensive.

Nice shutter release. Works great with my Nikon D800. Easy to use. Intuitive. As a remote shutter release, it does what it is supposed to do. I'm not sure I have anything negative to say. I guess I'd consider one that just mounts directly into the Nikon shutter release like I've seen. Versus this Vivitar design the receiver either dangles from the cord (attached to the shutter release port) or you can attach the receiver unit to the hot shoe. Assuming you aren't using the hot shoe already! I routinely just let the vivitar receiver just dangle from the cord which is attached to my Nikon D800 shutter release port... Other than that (which is by design in this type of unit), I have no negatives.

If you don't have a shutter release you should get one, it's so great to actually be in a photo!

I have been using the using the unit only fr a month. It now works very well. My best usage so far is the ability to shoot close ups (on birds) from around corners and from inside the house. This has a lot of potential. The instructions are worthless. The tech support wants $28.00 just to answer the email. So go to some of the other reviews for hints on the set up. So far, I know this. Make sure you choose the right connecting wire. Make sure you make all wire connections with the camera turned off. then turn the unit to on. then press the button marked set, a red light will come on, then start trying various methods to use it. I have not set the camera for remote...yet. I would appreciate any short cuts that others "discover"

I just ordered a Panasonic G5 and didn't shop enough. This is NOT the right remote for a Panasonic and is useless to me.

The Vivitar Wireless Remote Shutter release is working perfectly. The included instructions seemed perfectly adequate to me. I had the unit up and running on my Canon Rebel XTI in minutes. The unit is small and unobtrusive. It works through house walls and glass doors. I haven't tested the limits of reception, but 20-30 feet have worked fine. I am very pleased with this purchase. I think it is a great value.

The Vivitar VIV-RC-200-XSI Wireless Remote Shutter Release consists of two parts: a receiver which can be attached to the camera's flash shoe and connects to the camera's cable release socket and a separate transmitter. The remote can operate at ranges up to 320 ft (100 m) under optimal conditions and it features a switch for focusing operation or shutter release. This remote release will reduce the possibility of blurred images since you are not in physical contact with the camera while making an exposure.
