The old saying, that "the best telescope is the one you use the most" applies here. I have a few scopes, one a high end refractor on a monster EQ mount, but the A80mf is my scope of choice on any given night. Its long focal length insures good color correction, the light weight but very sturdy construction means easy carrying and steady viewing, and the excellent optics deliver superb sharp images. This is a great scope for moon, planets, double stars, and the brighter deep space objects. The red dot finder is easy to use and adjust for accurate object location, and the slow motion controls on the alt-az Porta Mount are smooth. An excellent, affordable package for the astro beginner to intermediate observer. It will serve you well for many years. .

This is a quality scope, not a department store junk scope. It excels with the moon and planets, but the 80mm aperture is large enough to show hundreds of double stars, open and globular clusters, nebulae, and many galaxies. Put it on the light but sturdy Vixen Porta-Mount, as I have, and you have a very stable scope that is light enough to be grabbed and carried out to the yard, ready for instant use. The saying goes, "the best scope is the one you use the most." I have bigger and more expensive scopes on larger mounts, but no scope that I use as often and with as much pleasure as this one.

If you are looking to start out with something a little larger than a beginner scope, or need a better finder scope for your large telescope, the A80Mf is the one to buy. Although it is just 10mm larger than its smaller cousin the A70Lf, this extra aperture will revel more detail in solar system objects and the deep sky alike.
Use the 80mm size for terrestrial viewing of ships on the ocean or whale watching. With an optional sun projection accessory you can view sun spots projected onto a white surface. (Of course NEVER look at the sun directly).
The A80MfLf, although inexpensive is not a toy telescope. It has the same quality glass and exacting workmanship that goes into the much larger instruments.
The A80Mf is an Achromatic Refractor with 80mm (3.2") of aperture. Its focal length is 910mm (3 ft.) with an f ratio of 11.4. Its light gathering is 130 times better than the human eye and has a maximum (realistic) power of 144x. It weighs about 5.5 lbs.
