I used this to piggyback a DSLR onto my telescope for the eclipse. I only had a simple piggyback adapter with a tripod screw on the 'scope, and the camera was pointing too high. I couldn't see how to adjust it without bending the mount or shimming it. This adapter made it easy to adjust the alignment, but added quite a bit of additional space between the 'scope and the camera. Since I could easily adjust the camera left/right on the original adapter, it would be nice if there was a shorter one of these that only adjusted up/down. Also, the bottom of this adapter is smooth metal, so I had to use some double-sided tape to keep it from rotating on the 'scopes piggyback adapter which was also smooth metal.

This unit was bought for my wife to use to help her keep the eclipse centered in a 400 mm lens being used for the MegaMovie project making a movie of eclipse pics taken coast to coast. The unit relieved her of having to readjust the tripod head during totality. I was using two cameras and was jealous of her and that I'd only bought one vs more of these units. Will correct that oversight soon. If she has a pic of her setup, I'll send it to you. she hasn't downloaded all the photos she took at the eclipse as yet other than the eclipse pics.

I needed a way to fine adjust my 60D camera with a Tamron 150 ~ 600 mm lens. With the tripod only I would under or over adjust. Now I can center my subject with ease.
