This economical version of the GP mount comes standard with R.A. and Decl. slow-motion control knobs but without the setting circles and polar axis scope. The body is the same as that of the GP model and incorporates the same 114-toothworm gears.

It is a good buy for the beginning visual observer wishing to become familiar with equatorial mounts. Simple polar alignment can be made with the altitude/azimuth adjustments and polar axis hole. However this kit is much more as it includes the major accessories to match the GP mount.

The GP-E comes with a 3.7-kg (8-lb) counter weight.

The included AL150 Aluminum Tripod has a vertical height adjustment with spread legs to top of base is 30" to 53.25" / 76cm to 135.5cm. (Legs extend from 36.5" to 59" / 93cm to 150cm.) The tripod weighs 9.3 lbs (4.2 kg)

The SD-1 Single-Axis Controller controls the right ascension motor drive on the GP-E equatorial mount. It features 2x guiding, 16x fast forward and reverse slewing. Runs on six C batteries (not included). Includes cable and battery case.

The MT-1 (R.A./Decl. Motor) SX trim motor drive is a stepping motor driven by a very accurate quartz oscillator. It's circuit is designed to keep tracking error within 0.005% of sidereal time. The cast aluminum housing with dovetail track attaches easily to GP-type mounts.

Kit includes motor, motor gear, gear cover , mounting bolts, brass worm wheel and Allen key.(Can also be adapted to SP-type mounts) One motor is needed for each axis driven. for use with SD-1 hand controller one motor is included. (The DD-1 requires 2 motors).

The included Manual Operation Clutch allows for manual operation of the R.A. or Dec. Axis with motor drives attached.

To take full advantage of the load carrying capacity of the mount, additional counterweights are available and recommended for telescopes over 4kg (8.8lb).
