Wonderful Sound, Questionable Construction

The search for a quality acoustic guitar made of quality materials at a reasonable price continues. This Washburn is impressive on paper, very impressive. In reality it sounds great, nearly like a Martin D18, as it should since spec wise it is nearly the same. It's light, it's playable all the way up the neck. It is mostly beautiful. Yet I returned it. Why? There was a noticeable bow in the body behind the bridge more than likely caused by the use of a very thin top, forward bracing, and manufacturing techniques. This with the very thin bridge material means as the body continues to change, as all solid word acoustics do, the guitar would either need a major repair in say a year or be firewood. And since there isn't enough bridge material to constitute a repair firewood would be the likely choice. In addition there were finish issues that I was willing to overlook for the price.

Excellent Value for Price

This guitar would be an excellent value at regular MSRP due to solid wood top, back, and sides, but is spectacular at the sale price. I'm fortunate to have a Martin HD-28 VTS, Martin CEO-7, and Taylor 510--all excellent guitars. Does this one sound as good as those for 1/10 the price? NO--of course not. But for a guitar to use for travel or outdoor use, this one is a no brainer. It would also be excellent for a first time player due to easy playability. Good action and pretty good set up right out of the box. Fretboard was a little dry, but that was solved with some lemon oil. There is some buzzing on open strings when using a capo on the third fret, but that can likely be solved with giving neck a bit more relief via truss rod adjustment. Overall an excellent value.

Best solid wood bang for your buck.

Great sound and playability, and will only get better with age. Love it.

Washburn solid wood plus Adarama and Slickdeals= BIG WIN

Ok so I ordered this through slickdeals which directed me to Adarama website. I knew of this model and at normal price it was out of my price range a little bit. My son has a Washburn hd series and it’s a really nice guitar so I thought this guitar would be really great being it’s solid wood. I WAS SHOCKED HOW NICE THIS GUITAR IS. The case it comes in is gorgeous and well made. One strum and it sounds like a guitar 2x the NORMAL price. When I saw this for $ I didn’t even think about it. I have no doubts that this guitar will be with me for decades to come. This Washburn is well made and sounds incredible. Not as much low end as a Martin but it is boomy. Not as much high end as a Taylor or Yamaha. The mids are very present and do not get lost. Very even tone throughout all strings. IMHO it has a very rich full tone. My ears love it. Very comfortable in my hand so my hands love it and didn’t kill my wallet. Thank you Washburn and Adarama. This is an INCREDIBLE opportunity for someone like me to own a higher end acoustic guitar without paying a high end price. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GUITAR!!

Good value guitar with quality features

The Washburn Heritage acoustic guitar is really a nice guitar for the money. It looks awesome. Right out of the box it played very well. Strings are smooth. It does not have the buttons installed to attach a shoulder strap but that’s an easy install - you tube it if needed. Here is a breakdown on the model number as I found it hard to follow, initially. HD - heritage dreadnaught, 100 - the model, SW - solid wood, K - kit (meaning it comes with the case). The case is actually a nice hard side case. It’s the same one you see for sale for like $90 from Washburn. Brown-ish colored with the gold washburn logo.
