It is loud, reverbs through the house. No automatic iPhone back up which is why I bought it. Figured having my own cloud was better than paying for storage elsewhere. It backs up pictures that's about it.

Not ay lot of personal NAS hard drives out there, I had no choice of buying this one. But it does the job. Hopefully, they don't discontinue the Home app like they did for the previous model.

This used to be a great cloud drive. However it now cannot be used as a local drive except under some very specific limited configurations

Such an unsuccessful product, I wondered who the genius designed it..... Make me speechless.

I'm highly confused by this product. I purchased it to have cell phone photos and videos go directly to this storage, then I can pull them off the drive directly over my network. 1) The owners manual says there is a Desktop Application for "quick and easy access" but it turns out that isn't true. 2) USB ports that have no realized function. Can't connect to your computer for 'quick and easy access' according to your documentation. "USB Port(s) These USB ports are not designed to connect a My Cloud Home device directly to a host computer system. My Cloud Home - This device comes with one USB Type-A port on the back panel that supports USB 3.0. My Cloud Home Duo - This device comes with two USB Type-A ports on the back panel that support USB 3.0." 3) Only a 1GB Ethernet port? Really? In this day and age where things are going fiber. I have 8GB dedicated Internet coming to the house, Ethernet and Fiber network in the house that can handle up to 40GB, and all my computers and laptops can use up to 8GB. My WiFi is better than your wired network port (which should never happen). This thing is the slowest thing in the house. I've been using Western Digital products since last century, and this is the first time I've been utterly disappointed, almost disgusted by a product you have put out. Save yourself the headache, pull this product off the market.

After multiple emails and calls to Tech Support I have determined that this drive is a piece of junk! Not to mention the fact that WD Tech Support is totally useless. After many years and many drives it is sad that Western Digital has become a third rate company.

I bought this to replace the Sandisk IBI that I have had for years and absolutely love. It is exactly the same platform BUT transferring pics has been a nightmare. You cannot login and have data in the cloud go to the Home device. You have to download it and then upload it. Not too much of a problem unless you have albums which will not stay intact. Also the .heic extension has to be converted to .jpg on each photo or you cannot view the pic. The IBI converted those files automatically. WD has forced this new device since IBI will no longer be supported but has not provided the proper programming to accomplish this easily and successfully. I have communicated through email with them and they provide the same answer and same links which are not helpful. This is extremely frustrating.

Could hardly be easier to set up. Connection a little hinky at times, perhaps depending on the app

We're an all-Apple household and I'd been searching for a replacement for Apple's Time Capsule. We moved to a Mesh-Wifi system (highest rated on NY Times Wirecutter) and tried other products, including other WD hard drives plugged directly into the Mesh-Wifi home base via USB. Could not get these to work, and all I was looking for was a replacement for Apple's Time Capsule. Finally a senior Apple Tech Support person for the Time Machine dept, after diving into the specs, suggested the WD My Cloud Home. I only wish I had known about it sooner!!! I've never used a device as simple as this that has worked flawlessly since it was installed. I plugged it in (it uses a wired Cat-5 port) to the remote Wifi Mesh Node and the Mac instantly found it as destination for Time Machine and within about 10 seconds it was backing up. We now have 3 Macs in our house that all use it as a backup and it's been working perfectly!!! Very very happy with this solution. I know it can do other things, but I was ONLY looking for a Time Capsule replacement. It does have a flashing white light and makes typical HD noise. In our case it's not an issue as the Wifi Mesh Node I attached it to is in a closet (I had read another review about the noise, so I wanted it in a place where a little bit of noise doesn't matter) as I don't think you'd want this in say, a bedroom.

I recently picked one of these up and overall, it's a decently useful little device. I had to reset it, which took a long time trying to get that working but after that and taking about 30 minutes with it I got everything set up and running smoothly. The web app for it is not very good. There are probably 5 or so apps you can get for it and really only a couple that I would actually use. No marketplace for apps or anything like that. This is mainly just for home use, but you can also port forward from your router to get it working from outside your network. It's transferring times are great, and I am able to see the Cloud from all of my devices on my network instantly without any extra setup. Very easy to use after set up, but as others have said, it's a bit too easy and I wish there was much more functionality as it is VERY basic. I am able to run games from it, putting games on the Cloud then running it from my PC worked great, it takes a minute or so to load the game but after that it's great. I stream music from it and there is no lag whatsoever, and it works great. I really have no complaints except wishing there were more features and apps for it. There's a new OS for newer wd devices so I guess this one kind of just got left in the dust. If you're thinking about picking one up, and you mainly want to use it for simple file sharing and streaming between your home devices, you'll have a great experience. If you want something with more features, grab one with My Cloud OS 5.

I was worried when WD's website was down. I couldn't access My Cloud. But watching the support videos, I was able to log into the drive as a network drive and mount it as a "Z" drive. I now have full access including my Windows 10, 32 bit computer.

I can't see my cloud, I need to use it with Plex and I can't connect it. It is the worst product I have ever used. In through a message from 503 Service temporarily unavailable, for 4 days. The interface is very complicated and there are no third-party applications anymore. As I made several attempts to enter my account, it was blocked and when I click on Forgot your password, it sends a message from: This page does not work at this time.

The refurbished unit never worked right, Never connected to my network. After far too much discussion with WD support, they did send me a new unit, which did work, albeit after 2 rounds of reset to factory.

Awful experience, tried putting my 9 digit code in at least 50 times, on line chat session was a waste of time. Could never talk to help desk or a real person. Sent the item back. So disappointing, I really wanted this to work

It is an amazing cloud. If you want something where you can save your documents and at the same time have the option to open them whenever you want, this is the best solution. It is important to know that this works as cloud NO as USB. You cannot connect it directly to your computer using the USB, everything is using internet.

Easy setup, flawless operation so far. I found that using the USB port to be the best and fastest way to load initial data in. I like that the unit is extremely quiet and non-intrusive to my daily activities. Since I'm the only one that's going to use it, I didn't want the hassle of setting up a NAS and wanted something that would plug-and-play. WD My Cloud Home fit my needs. On a side note, it was sad to think that all of my life fits in 1TB. I need to get out more.

Fast shipping and delivery. The unit powered up, but was invisible to the network and all of my devices. Previous purchases have installed easily and and worked immediately. This was an anomaly. Western Digital made things right with a no-hassle refund. Good and fast response to the problem.

Great storage alternative
By CPMag
This is a great alternative for a home based cloud storage system. Simple set up. If you have a lot of photos (I had 71k) be prepared for it to take days to download all your photos. It took 5 days for mine. Now it is all there it works good. There is a bit more lag time for photos to populate and although not as quick as iCloud, it is fine for me. You may give up some response time but if that is not an issue for you this is a great system to take the place of paying for 2TB on iCloud each m...
