Beware of WD My Cloud. A few years back I purchased a 6 TB WD My Cloud and it actually worked rather well, UNTIL Western Digital sent an email, essentially saying, "Sorry", very soon your device will not longer function. Hey, at least they were HONEST, the 6TB MY Cloud did cease to function. I no longer had a MY Cloud NAS but I did have a VERY expensive 6TB hard drive. Live and Learn..

Constantly disconnects from my computer when I shut down and I have to re-map it. Sometimes, it won't discover on my network and let me. It is very frustrating! I am done with WD. I have own MyBook, MyCloud, and now the PR2100. Each has had it difficulties, but this one is the worst!!

Don't know why the bad reviews here. I own three of these. The latest is an eBay purchase, a 20TB unit. The guy said they could not see the second drive. I have no clue what he means, but the Raid 1 volume is there, and both drives show up just fine. I suspect people are posting negative reviews with little idea of how these work. I use 1 unit, with a usb connected IoSafe drive, to store a lot of media files and backup mine and my wife's devices and computers. It runs Plex just fine - and back's up quite well with Acronis app. And I use the USB Backup app for the volume backup. I had one glitch when trying to upgrade drive sizes, but have discovered that it was the (old, re-certified) drives that were the culprit to my problems. And as I learned about NAS units, I've come to very much appreciate the "industrial" approach to the software and the WD Red drives. Novices or experts (I guess I am in between) can readily use these units for years and they'll perform for years with nary a glitch. And perform media serving for Plex or other platforms. Not flashy, just solid performance... I am not sure what people truly expect - but these meet almost every need. It won't transcode to 4K on the fly like some pricier units, but Plex has settings for that. It will hold and manage all the household or small business office data just perfectly, with rock solid Raid management.

No way to mount drive. The system is fast and great for streaming, but if you are looking at using this as a dropbox, google drive or cloud storage alternative, look into Synology. I will be selling my unit for a Synology to use it as a cloud storage and having access to apps for a NAS that I do not have to pay a monthly fee for. Customer support keeps you on hold for hours and with multiple sessions adding up to 35 hours, gave up. Ridiculous. Also, can not write from a Mac if you get it to mount on the local network.
