I love this kit! It assembles easily, and the huge 8 x 8 foot size gives me wonderful light. I have used the 3/4-stop fabric to partially diffuse a hard light (a fabulous look), and as an outstandingly huge silver reflector for lighting a room with ambient sunlight. I also ordered a 1.25-stop 8x8 diffusion fabric to get even softer non-specular light. Note that once assembled, it does require an assistant to hoist up onto c-stands and position it. I am using a pair of super clamps that I already owned rather than the "official" Westcott clamps and they work great for me. I love the rugged modularity of this design. My next purchases will be some shorter bars and 6x6 fabrics and reflectors for use in smaller spaces. I also found that winding some short lengths of double-sided velcro tape around the bars and the joiners prevents them from banging against each other noisily in the carrying bag.

SOLID: I bring this on most shoots I do. Much improved over the old Scim Jims which were a little flimsy. Very solid and builds in a minute or two. HANDY: You can use this frame as the 6x6 that it is, but also consider you can buy some 4x4 or 4x6 rags and build this frame as a 4x4 or 4x6 and you've got some added versatility. I also purchased a 4x8 floppy black cloth and can use it with that as well. COMPACT: The case that comes with it is big enough to hold many more sections. I keep my Extra-large Scrim-Jim frame (8x8), 6x6 Cine frame, and 4x4 Cine frame all in this same case.

Excellent product...is easy to assemble and performs as expected..I do think it would better to have a full stop diffuser vs the 3/4 diffuser that came with the kit

This kit has become a tool for every shoot. Whether I'm controlling natural light, or shaping light with my production LEDs, I've grown to depend on my 6x6. I've lit up vehicles for exterior shots by bouncing sunlight, I've used it in interviews, and even if I'm not using it to shape my key light, often I'll toss the reflection fabric directly on the ground with no frame to add a little fill. One day while moving gear from a residential driveway to the inside for interior shots, the whole 6x6 frame and reflection fabric was laying on the concrete. I didn't know the homeowner was leaving, but she backed completely over it in a huge SUV. I watched the whole thing, thinking "well, that's all for that reflector." But to my surprise, it was fine! Didn't even crimp the frame. So it's not only useful, but it's durable. I switched camps from Lastolite to Westcott after becoming frustrated that I couldn't put the aluminum tubing on the Lastolite frame together and take it apart easily. The soft aluminum tips get dinged up over time and it causes them to bite in tight, making them near impossible to get apart. The Westcott uses tough plastic tips on the square tubing, so the metal doesn't gall and stick. I can assemble and disassemble the Westcott 6x6 lightning fast. I've even had clients comment about how quickly I get it set up. I'd highly recommend the whole Scrim Jim product line based on my experience with the 6x6. I'm planning on picking up a couple more of various sizes and definitely the 8x8.

YES- do it ! Make the purchase - I really am so truly happy with my purchase. I seriously have used it at every one of my sessions since I bought this. It's amazing. The first use was on a family of 6 . I typically shoot in golden hour & with my subjects backlit so it can cause them to be dark. The scrim was so wonderful to have . What a game changer !

Really like how this one does not fall apart during assembly (the locking buttons keep it together). Very solid, and a great size. Kinda long when packed, but other parts can make the system even smaller if necessary. I have two of these and will likely have more.

The kit also includes a 4' x 6' Single Net Fabric, essential for cutting busy or bright backgrounds by 1 or 2 stops, and a 4' x 6' Silver/White Bounce Fabric, a double-laminated, reversible fabric that allows you to reflect light while adding cool or neutral tones.
