Lightweight but not particularly useful

The 1x1 kit includes the scrim with diffusion and is almost negligible in the difference of light. The diffusion is far too close to the light to offer any significant diffusion advantage over the scrim jim. It does fold up nice and flat and is very light which is a plus. The set up is not very fast though because you need to wrap this box around the frame and then it attaches to the back side. Then you have to install the post through the softbox edge in order to secure it to the light stand. This poses a problem for two reasons, if you already have the flex mat set up with the scrim jim then you need to take it down and remove the post to put the softbox on. Then, if you want to switch back and forth or are needing to throw stuff in your case to change locations you will not be able to set up and break down quickly and it adds a layer of unnecessary fidgeting. By contrast, the much more expensive 12x12 chimera softbox for Ikan LED's has a velcro backside which literally just pops right on to the scrim jim and is amazingly effective. I'm pretty satisfied with the scrim jim though so I'll hold off on getting anything else for now.
