Mark G : Will this Softbox mount well on a Profoto A1 (round flash head)?  Using with Nikon AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED to take Macro photos of insects, small plants, etc.

Using a diffuser such as this on an LED light is going to cut down the light by a couple of stops. I use it with a 430ex ii and it works great!RACHAEL H : The microapollo fits great on my Canon 580EX flash. I use it to widen the light disbursement & also diffuse the light. I use it primarily during wedding receptions on a light stand but it could also sit on the flash on camera as well.DAVE M : I guess it depends on what setting your flash is on (manual or ttl) and how close you are to the subject. I use mine with a radio trigger and I adjust my aperture and shutter speed accordingly. Then I add the flash in at the lowest setting and work my way to giving it more power as needed. I'm doing the flash manually tho.

Exposure comp for Apollo diffuser.

I’ve been using this Apllow diffuser for a few years now. I set the exposure comp to plus 1 or 2 stops depending on distance. Works great.

I use this for food photography in our brewpub and gives the soft light texture I need to really showcase our entrees. Easy to use and very affordable - highly recommend it!

Compact, Easy To Use

This fit perfectly on my Vivitar pivot head flash unit. Never worry about it falling off. Makes a nice soft even light,removes harshness. Even improves bounce lighting. Flattens out, easy to keep in camera bag. Love it.

Performs just as advertised.

When bouncing the light off walls and ceilings is not an option, this micro sized soft box works very well. There are no hotspots, and the results are quite soft relative to the size of the diffuser. The Velcro fastener is opposite that of most flash diffusing attachments, but it only takes a few minutes to reverse them. It is a must for event photography, and as with most Westcott products, it is very good quality.

Performs just as advertised.

This product performs as expected. It is large enough to spread and soften the light. There are no significant hot spots. In addition, it is not so big that it becomes intimidating at either an event or a reception. The Velcro attachment is in reverse to most other modifiers for Speedlights, but that is an easy fix to switch them around.

Great when you can't bounce

I bought this for the times when I need some flash but can't bounce or when I don't have the time or space to set up off-camera flash. It softens the light just enough to avoid the "snapshot" look. It also works as a good diffuser for macro work. I found the included Velcro patches too small and weak to hold the Apollo, and they peeled off the flash as I removed the Apollo. Instead I replaced the Velcro on the Apollo and put an elastic Velcro strap on the flash. It works great now.

Works for me!

So it's not the easiest to attach but it does a great job of diffusing light if you are using an on-camera flash. It does the job I needed.

Tough product with a soft side.

The Micro Apollo is easy to use and works great and offers a soft light to enhance your subject while on the go. It collapses down to nearly nothing and travels great and is always ready when you need it.

Excellent product!!

This tiny softbox it's all you need to soften the harsh light of the flash, easy to install and remove. You can use it as a hair light in the studio also or to do a very soft fill outdoors. Buy it!!!

Apollo are constructed using an umbrella frame. No speed rings are needed, just use the umbrella receptacle on your light. Easy opening and closing means easy set-up and takedown. The square or rectangular shape allows you to scrim or control the light more readily.

For direct diffusion, position the light facing the white diffuser panel. The light will have a bright center with a soft edge. The distance of the light to the diffuser panel will govern the brightness of the center of the light.

For indirect diffusion, mount the Apollo with the light facing towards the back of the light modifier. With the light in this position, light will bounce off the silver metalized back of the unit and produce a more uniform, softer light.

Warranty Information

This product has a limited warranty of 12 months for parts and 12 months for labor.
