I have three of these lights. They work great and I would recommend them to someone starting out. They aren't so expensive that they'll kill your budget but they are nicer and easier to operate (you don't get burned!) than the very low end. Also, if like myself, you are just begining to shoot with models, these units have a nice, professional look which, I think, will give you and your model some confidence. No one wants to show up with a new photographer and see cheap equipment. My only problem was that when I ordered them, in the fall, the listing included a reflector for the light (and you can see it in the picture -- the conical black part on the right), but the reflector wasn't included! Worse, for me, Adorama has refused to address this issue by any means other than removing the "reflector" from the product listing. I like this light, I recommend it. I like Adorama a lot, they have been fast and responsive to other questions I have had. The one thing which sticks in my craw is that I still have "nude" lamps -- the bulb sticks right out the end.
