Not my first Westcott Rapid Box.  They are fabulous for quick setup for work out of the studio.  The deflector plate gives me more flexibility and options.

Great inexpensive way to change the quality and look of your light.

Cost effective modifier

Bought this larger deflector plate to use with my Rapid Box Duo after chatting with Westcott's online service rep. It spreads the light a little better IMO. It is quite a bit larger than the one for the Octas and 10x20 strip.

What I expected

I haven't played with it much yet, but I am able to get good results. One thing I noticed, if using without the diffuser panels, the falloff of light is rapid behind the model. Never used a beauty dish before so not sure if this is normal. It's not a big deal though. I've tried arranging it in either direction but don't see any change in quality. Have also used it with the outer diffuser in place and had quality images, so I'm impressed.

The deflector lighting

This deflector does a wonderful job of dispersing the light around the octabox.  Gives nice, even light with no hotspot

Works as stated. makes for a little edge light and a little more shadow for excellent portraits

Easy to install and take off quickly. Makes different looks convenient and easy.

It does a good job of making the rapid box a beauty dish. It is cheap enough to pick up I just wish it was included with the rapid box instead of as an add on.

I'm so glad I got this to go with my rapid box duo. It's gives you so many more options. You can use it bare or throw on the outer diffusion to get some really nice light.
