I like the idea of this light, but found two drawback. 1) The soft box is a real bear to assemble. I am now replacing the modifiers I have, where possible, with Westcott Rapid Boxes. I don't have a studio where I can leave softboxes up, so ease of use is very important to me. 2) Light output isn't what I hoped for. I think it would be fine for static subjects such as tabletop product photos. Not so good for any moving subject. Either way, I found myself shooting at ISO 800 minimum and 1600 - 3200 preferred and at f2.8.

I am pleased with this product. However, the kit included only one shallow soft box and one strip light. It would be better if it had included two shallow soft boxes. After all, the kit includes two light bases for the bulbs. If you set up two light stands, wouldn't you like to have two soft boxes?

I test ed several lighting systems with a variety of bulbs. This was the only one that would light the screen to "Quality 2" on the Green Screener software. The pictures key great into PhotoKey Pro 8 with very little editing. This is a great set.

This is a great peace of hardware that allows you to position and control your light. I use it for portraits and photographing newborns acting as a window light. As the review headline states, "Simply Fantastic." Very easy to set-up.

These lights are great, easy to set up, and easy to use. I love the TD6.
The Westcott Spiderlite TD6 (6220) adds another socket for a total of 6 for increased light output. This light fixture accepts optional tungsten halogen (3200K) lamps up to 1200W maximum as well as fluorescents (3200 - 6000K) and screw-mount flash. Three separate controls allow multiple combinations of bulbs together with no color shift. The TD6 has all-metal construction with 4 built-in receptacles for direct attachment of a 4-sided softbox without an adapter ring.
Three separate controls allow the ability to adjust light output, without changing color temperature. With an adjustable rheostat, every time adjustments are made, color temperature can shift greatly. By utilizing these switches, your color stays constant which means you are only white balancing your camera once! (Each switch controls 2 lamps)
The Spiderlite TD6 is constructed of all-metal, no plastic to break.
The Spiderlite TD6 offers the ability to switch between cool daylight fluorescent lamps to Tungsten Halogen hot lamps. Be prepared for any situation with one light head that can offer both options!
Award-Winning Output - The Spiderlite TD6 steadily produces up to 900 watts of illumination. With sockets placed evenly across the all-metal light head, light spreads evenly for maximized output.
Daylight Fluorescent or Tungsten Halogen - The Spiderlite TD6 is designed with the ability to take both fluorescent and tungsten-halogen bulbs. So, you can choose instantly between using warm or cool light temperatures without needing to exchange light heads.
Built-In Mounting System - Each Spiderlite head features built-in rod receptacles, allowing for softbox modification and mounting without the need of additional mounting brackets or speedrings. A built-in umbrella receptacle is included as well for quick umbrella modifying.
Simple Output Adjustment - Spiderlite TD6's output can be adjusted with separate controls located on the rear of the light head. Each switch controls the level of brightness by powering on or off a set of 2 bulbs.
Durable, Reflective Design - The light head is constructed with reflective metal, optimizing output and durability for years of use in your studio.
Effortless Light Placement - A protruding handle located on the rear of the Spiderlite gives you the ability to quickly rotate your light and the attached modifier a full 180-degrees with ease. Additionally, the Spiderlite head features an affixed tilter bracket for even more precise placement.
Assured Safety - The Spiderlite TD6 is designed to stay cool and resist heat, ensuring safe use even when shooting your most precious subjects. Pair with Westcott's professional softboxes, which feature double-layer heat resistant fabrics for ultimate in beautiful lighting and assured safety.
