You need a big light source that wraps around your subject, this is it. I have used these umbrellas for years now and there still like new. very light and portable.

Doesn’t fit the Godox ad400pro, because of the shaft shape, but seems pretty well built.

I used it recently in a family photo I took at night. I used two umbrella's and a camera mounted flash. There were 35 people who were lit well enough so that with Lightroom adjustments it came out great. Folds up nice and easy to carry with it plastic case.

Exactly what you expect with these umbrellas. I will say, the overall build is much better with the fiberglass over the traditional metal, which means it can take a hit better if it gets blown over by wind.

I used an older model(17738) that finally wore out. This model (2004) has the black outer fabric sewn all the way around to the soft silver lining. Also like the older model this umbrella has a solid shaft which is better than the hollow shafts found on some other brands.

I have found the Wescott 60" to be the perfect blend of size and portability for my location lighting needs. By allowing me to use it as a traditional umbrella or a shoot through, I find that I can create lighting ratios much easier with ambient light. I often use one reflective and the second one as a shoot through. Often an outdoor location will provide several interesting backgrounds within a 50 to 100 yard area and no lighting setup is easier to move. Simply collapse the umbrella and you are underway to the next shot!

I would definitely recommend this product. We use these on location and shoot through them with an Xplor 600 Flashpoint strobe. Makes beautiful light and folds down for easy transport.

Exactly what I wanted. Low tech but it softens light just like an expensive one.

The entire umbrella looks and feels sturdy. The satin umbrella, the black cover, and frame all look and feel like they will hold up to years of use. I did just receive the umbrella, but during an indoor test shoot yesterday I was able to assemble and uncover the umbrella with ease. In addition, it spreads light evenly and beautifully. One thing I wish it did come with is a protective cover/sleeve. It does come with a plastic display sleeve, but once the umbrella has been opened it's impossible to squeeze it back to its factory packing. Despite that minor wish, I look forward to testing it under various conditions and finding that it's reliable enough to order more in the future.

I bought two of the Westcott 60 inch Umbrella because all of the great review and excellent price. I needed them to setup a basic 45 degrees main/ fill lighting for an outdoor green-screen sports portrait, and even with some really strong winds, they worked great and gave me a beautiful light.

I've only used it twice, but it performed exactly as promised. Opened and closed easily, lightweight, reflected all kinds of light. I haven't tried it as a shoot through, but I don't see why it wouldn't work well there also.

This is the all-around light mod. If you're going to carry umbrellas in your 'light kit' grab a couple of these guys. All the things that were build problems in Wescott's smaller umbrellas are remedied in this model... solid rounded shaft, fiberglass ribs and construction, better stitch and fabric quality, sturdy removable cover tips and umbrella point... all of it is much, MUCH better quality and seems on par with some of the more expensive ones I've checked out. The only issue is it's size... it's big! If you're looking for a run-and-gun packable umbrella, this is not for you. However, if you want a great studio/location umbrella, spend the extra $10 and move up from Wescott's 43" and get this durable and reliable umbrella. It's well worth it!

Nothing fancy here, but it works great. Gives nice, soft diffused light (especially from a speedlight). It won't break the bank and gives you what you need from it. It is fragile and other reviewers have spoken to that end, but hey, most light modifiers are! If you are gentle with it and care for it well, there isn't any reason it shouldn't hold up. You can get it back into it's storage sleeve if you smooth the panels back and then gently twist the fabric tight at the top and slide it in. Just take a couple extra seconds of care and no problem. The ONLY problem I have noticed so far is that in one spot, the stitching between panels was a little loose and starting to come undone. Nothing that can't be easily fixed, though. We shot this umbrella outside and in windy conditions (weighted and monitored by an assistant) and it worked beautifuly.

works great! versatile
By Valerie M.
This umbrella works great! I even had one of my strobes go out on me and this was all I used for a group of 9 in a small studio. -I love that I can use it as a shoot-through or a reflective umbrella! Nice LARGE size. Other review was correct, but all umbrellas are advertised like that. It is 60" including the arc not across.
