jennifer g : how long is the flexible arm on the wimberley?DAVE H : The black "links" are about 18" long. From tip-to-tip, including the clamps, it's about 26".WILLIAM S : To add to the previous answer: That length probably includes the length of the plant clip (I'm answering from out on a trip without access to the arm). 12" extensions of the black flexible parts are also available and snap together easily. Longer extensions generally reduce the weight it can hold depending on arm angling.MICHAEL F : Hello, here is the specifications from the Wimberley website: Length: 23 inches (58.5 cm) Maximum Holding Capacity: ~8oz (227g) - See below Maximum Clip Jaw Opening: 1 inch (2.54cm) I hope this iinfo helps / Kind Regards / M.FlynnCLAIRE A : See the "specs" section: 23 in.DALE S : Flex part is about 18"

Performs as described

The product performs as described. the only thing I wish would be that it could hold a little more weight.

Incredibly Useful

I was a bit unsure if this was needed, until I used it for macro photos of flowers on a windy day. It's not perfect (only so much you can do with the flowers and wind, but it works as well as I could hope. Would recommend the spike with this as connecting directly to tripod can lead to vibrations through the plamp when shooting.

Helping hand!

I bought two of these for use in macro photography work. They work great for stabilizing flowers and holding reflectors or backgrounds. Very sturdy with a delicate to firm grip. Two can be combined for a longer reach.

Best diffuser and reflector clamp every. VERY well built as well.

The best clamp ever! I use them in my home office for diffusers and reflectors to soften the lights with great success! They are sturdy and secure.

A must-have in your studio gear

I love these things. I was always trying to tape things together, thinking these were some sort of homemade option, but when the Adorama rep told me the name, I ordered two. So easy to hold cards and baffles now! They hold their place and don't move. You won't regret this purchase!

Good value

This is a clever, cost-appropriate device to help with use of filters, deflectors and diffusers. It's intuitive to use, built well and I've already used it with good success.

Versatile holding-arm accessory!

I bought this Wimberley Plamp II for various macro applications including holding plants steady for photos using a tripod. The strong anchoring clamp opens to fit over my 1.3-inch (33mm) carbon fibre tripod legs without damage to the legs. This use nears its maximum practical opening, requiring good hand strength, but I have been just able to get it over a 1.5-in. board (a standard 2x4). The specimen end is a delight with great versatility in holding various objects including delicate plants without damage. I love it for its many uses.

Make sure your hands are strong!

It's stiff--and I have weak hands--so it's a little hard to use. Perhaps I should get steroids in order to use this device. That said, when I go to anchor flowers, objects and the like for macro work, that stiffness could be an advantage. I'll have to see.

Very versatile

I use this in so many different ways, some of them non-photographic. It maintains its stiffness under moderate use.

Great product!!!

I purchased the Wimberley, The Plamp II to hold some heavy duty filters by Fractal filters that I had purchased for prism photography during long exposure... The arm is super light and flexible but very solid as well is very well-made... It clamps to my tripod with no problem and also holds the filters I use in place which are heavy.... I can see myself using this for many different projects from holding certain objects to help me create images with...This is a product I definitely would recommend and will be looking to purchase another one...

Big improvement over Version 1

I use plamps for holding foliage in macro work. The clamp at the end is much better that the Version 1 plamp. It adjusts with a screw, so you can hold things gently or firmly as needed. The older version end clamp wasn't very usuable. The new plamp is also sturdier overall and less prone to sag.
