Essential

This little device serves its purpose. I was drawn to it by good reviews and the affordable price tag and am happy I made the purchase. I recently used this to dump my CF cards while shooting a wedding. I am not going to lie - I was extremely nervous about trusting 1,100 wedding photos to this device because of the limited display and inability to view any additional info on the screen (like how many photos are on the drive, etc). I think it will take using this a few more times before I learn to trust it. Pros: super handy to have when traveling and have limited memory card space. Durable and portable. Has a good charge (ripped about 14GB before I had to plug it back in to charge), reliable, super easy to use, affordable, works on Mac and PC Cons: slow transfer rate (about 25 minutes to rip a 4Gb CF card full of RAW files), lack of "put-user's-mind-at-ease" feature like a way to double, triple, quadruple check that your card did indeed save

Gadget to have around

Great value. It works as it says. No mess with cards. You can copy one card as many times and no overwriting will occur. You can only copy about 8 to 10 megabytes before the battery dies. Since I work a lot in location, I wolud like for a stronger and longer battery. Dispaite that it is the best way to keep my laptop at studio and have 80 Gigabytes carryng around. Sturdy caps for card readers needed. Convinient AC converter included. I wolud recommend this to any professional.

Trust Required

With a very sturdy construction and just two buttons to worry about this unit feels the part. I have to say at first I did not trust it. I dropped in a 2 meg SD card, turned the unit on and pressed copy. The very basic LCD display showed me the RAW files downloading onto the unit by percentage. So back it goes into the bag and I carry on shooting on my second card.Later I go to check on the progress of the Wolverine and it's a blank display. So the only way to know for sure if it had copied the entire card was to get back to the Mac and check. Everything was copied in neat folders, easy to find. No drivers to worry about either.A couple more outings later and I now trust the unit. It's so simple it's worrying at first. [...].

a great investmant

I bought this last week as my wife and I were asked to shoot a wedding for a friend. My wife and I both shoot canon SLRs and had 2x4 gig cards and 4x2 gig cards. the Wolverine dumped our cards fast when we had breaks, put a card in, turn it on, and start a dump and go on with shooting.. ( you know it's done when it turns off)(it also displayes "copy finished" if you are just sitting around watching it.) don't forget to erase your card tho when you put it back in the camera or you end up with more copys than you want/need... the internal battery lasted fine and the copys, while not quite as fast as using the computer, were well within the acceptable time frame IMHO. a "must have" for sporting events, weddings, or anytime you fill your memory card but need to continue shooting..

Great simple product

Was thinking of buying additional CF cards, then settled on this Portable Storage drive. Great value, and works very well. Don't go on vacation with out one... Think about it, 80 1G CF's... Now that's a vacation.
