Excellent for Photographers

I entrusted a whole trip of photos from Alaska and Vancouver to this device and it worked beautifully. I use a Nikon D70 and had over 2600 pictures on this thing and it didn't hiccup. Photo download speed is very fast. I would recommend this to photographers looking for a more econimical databin that others that are availabe (IE Epson). The screen is just ok, but you can see what your pictures look like, and your EXIF info. I had no trouble watching movies on this device, it seems to have enough battery life for over one DVD movie. MP3s work fine as well, but it cannot sort or browse by ID tag info, which is a bummer cause that is how my library is arranged. You can work around this. It's not as slick as an Ipod (which I also have), but the Wolverine is so much better for photographers. Don't know if I would recommend it for someone looking for just an MP3 and Video player,it is huge compared to most of them, but for someone like me who needs a databin for images in the field, this thing is great. In addition, the battery is use replaceable and I hear it is dead simple to swap in a bigger hard drive. Highly recommended. I also bought mine on sale, so it was an excellent deal compared to a similar Ipod's price.

don't waste your money on this

I purchased this in hopes of using it as an MP3 recorder and player. It constantly locked up and required rebooting during random play. It also crashed several times and lost all data requiring reloading with gigs of music, video, and JPGs. Run don't walk away from this.

Functional and useful toy

Used for one month only. So far highly recommended in comparison with other handheld storage devices like Epson's. Price is right and product performs as advertised. Direct storage/backup and review of CF and SD cards is simple and very quick--2GB CF in ~3 minutes, so battery holds up well enough for me so far. I generally shoot 4GBs of NEF's in a morning and have been able to B/U, review, store, and then download 12GB before a re-charge. No need for any proprietary SW. No grief regarding downloading or transferring files to-from a PC--drag and drop without any file conversions. Device appears to computer as one HD, plus the card readers. Music sounds good, I've not bothered with playlists, just plunked playlist folders from PC and ran with them. A real plus is the voice recorder works well and actually sounds OK, but there is an inconsistent, but perceptable, high pitched whine during record and playback of voice--maybe poor isolation from HD during "record", but very usable to catch lectures, etc. As with any battery dependant device, I always carry an extra battery, but the Wolverine makes you use a tiny screwdriver (not included) to change the battery.

Handle with care!

I used this device during a photo work along the state i live on, and constantly had to charge the internal battery of this thing because it consumed to fast, about three or four times a day, besides after two months of use, it´s HDD failed and didn't work any more, it costed me $1,700 Dlls to get mi pics back.
