If you change filters while shooting, this system is for you! Once the adapter rings are in place, changing filters is super fast & fool proof. One adapter is need for each filter but only one adapter is needed per lens. If you get these, you’ll be happy you did.

I can't say enough good things about this item. If you use more than one filter (i.e. CPL, ND etc.) you NEED this Xume system. No more losing pictures because of the time it takes to swap filters, no more cross threading filters, and no more stuck filters. Please watch the video on their website (below) on the bottom right of the page entitled Ross Hoddinott, Pro Photographer. I Love Xume (pronounced Zoom) and have them for every lens. I am a fan, not a stockholder. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfplwqaxyFI

I have a few sizes and they do what they say they'll do … EXCEPT for the 55mm size. Those don't mate well at all. I've tried two different sets with the same result. I think the 55's have a manufacturing defect.

I have a bunch of these, in three sizes. Filters and achromatic close-up lenses live in a pouch on my belt. I can put them on and off in a couple of seconds. I use metal, screw-in lens caps on these, too. Indispensable in the field.

The other (**) reviewer needs to read and understand the description. This filter holder, screwed onto a filter, then attaches magnetically to a second ring, a Lens Adapter, screwed into the filter threads on the lens. You then can quickly detach and reattach your filter via the magnets, no more hasty fiddling to align finicky threads. Manfrotto needs to complete their product line. When that's done, they'll have magnetic lens caps (currently one, 77mm) and magnetic filters, eliminating the need for the filter holders and reducing the thickness of the stack of gadgets on top of the lens. That will address the products' one serious drawback, that they cause vignetting on wide-angle lenses. Properly marketed, this technology has the potential to become a universal standard, used on all filters, caps and even lenses. I hope Manfrotto understands that.

The filter holder has only female threads, which makes it impossible to attach directly to the lens. It is not obvious what this holder is designed to do.

I am a big fan of Xume products. The magnetic filter holders work extremely well. Do yourself a favor and go to their website and watch their short video.

What a great aid for filter users ... not only for convenience but also to save the lens from being cross threaded in a rush to add a filter. -1 star for the possibility of knocking the filter off if struck from the side.

I have more than one 77mm lens so I bought another

This ring solved my problem of having to constantly change filters/diopters and having the threads frequently not co-operate. NowI can change them in a second. Would give 5 stars, but they are overpriced, especially the lens adapter side.

Great holder for 72mm ND filters I use with my 16-35mm lens on my Sony. You need the adapter as well which you will screw on your lens. The filter holder will then magnetically attach to your adapter No more having to screw ND filters on. Just get your filter out and click it on your lens. Done. The filter holder is thin and doesn't add any bulk to your filters.

I can't belive someone didn't come up with this sooner. I no longer worry about cross threading a filter or having to sit there for 5 mins uses trying to get one to screw on. They snap on super easy and the magnets are super strong. I was even able to put the Lee filter foundation kit on one and it held on no problem.

The vignetting is pretty bad with a full frame camera and wide angle lenses. I am returning mine.

The concept of this magnetic filter holder and lens adapter is ingenious, but it is important to me to have a lens cap on my lenses while stored in my photo bag. As it stands now, a lens cap will not fit over a filter using this system. I was told that Xume may be introducing a lens cap of their own that will work, but at an additional cost. Also, I found that my Tiffen 77mm variable ND filter will not work successfully with this system because it is heavy and I don't feel it is secure.

The Xume 72mm (2.83") Filter Holder is a precision-machined metal ring that attaches to a 72mm circular screw-in filter to provide instant and secure attachment to lenses when a Xume Lens Adapter is installed. NdFeB rare Earth magnets are integrated within lens adapters to attach to the filter holder to and provide a strong, but easy to remove, connection that is suitable for use with oft-used filters. By using quick-to-remove magnets to attach filters, changing of filters can occur much more quickly and eliminates the chance of cross-threading or jamming when installing or removing filters.
The ring is approximately the same thickness as most step-rings and will not cause vignetting on most lenses with focal lengths as wide as 24mm (35mm equivalent). Over-the-lens type lens hoods are still compatible when Xume Adapters and Holders are in place and are recommended during use to provide an even more assured connection if working in busy environments.
