What's not to like? Simple preamp + amplifier + phono stage + VU meters which are fun. Easily powers my demanding speakers. Although, on advice from Yamaha support, I added an Emotive CMX2+ to eliminate DC offset from my house AC power to keep the toroidal transformer hardware from making a faint buzzing noise. Seems like something that Yamaha could consider building in.

I had a Yamaha AS801 and wanted to upgrade. I purchased an amplifier and pre amp from a reputable company. Didn't like the way it sounded. Traded in for the AS1200. Amazing difference. Definite noticable upgrade from theAS801and the new amp and preamp I just purchased. I've had a lot of different brands of amps and always to back to the warmth of Yamaha. If I ever purchase another, it will be another Yamaha for sure. Absolutely love it.

I've owned an A-S501 for years and was really happy with it. But I've always had this itch about trying out a more, say "audiophile" level gear. Can I really be happier with a more expensive model? I thought about my dog which I used to feed a piece of bread everyday. He was happy. It wasn't until I gave him the same piece of bread with butter on it. He hasn't accepted and refused to eat a plain piece of bread ever since.( unless it has butter). Using that analogy I took the plunge and what a surprise to these old ears. There is a big difference between the 501 and the 1200. Now the 501 sounds anemic in comparison, not to say it is anemic sounding. It still crushes the competition at its price level. There's a sense of heft in the 1200 missing from the 501. A slight emphasis on the upper mids and a solid deep low frequency foundation. Not boomy just strong clear bass. Looking at it I get a sense of owners pride greater than the previous amp or any before it. It is a beautiful piece of gear. Solid, heavy, elegant, timeless and beautiful. Brings justice to the music I play. Whether it might be using my turntable of my cd player. This is strictly an analog affair. Completely future proof. No DAC, special iPod or any other type of electronic adapters or plug that might be rendered obsolete in a few years. Just good old fashion rca connectors. The same ones we've used in the electronics industry for a hundred years. The phono stage is great. Again comparing to the 501 sounds louder and fuller. In part thanks to the higher sensitivity. I really can't say enough good things about this simple yet great amp. Maybe in a few years I'll move up to the 3200 or equivalent model of the time.

I wanted to give it a month or two before I judge this product. It is a very smooth sounding product. I really like it.

The A-S1200 provides pure, clean, accurate, enjoyable sound I have come to expect from Yamaha over many years. It also provides an excellent stereo image. I could listen to it for hours and never tire of it.

Was looking for a 2-channel integrated amplifier that took me back to my old days of the 70's that had the look and feel of that era. Wanted to hear that stereo sound when coming off of my old vinyl collection. Enter the A-S1200. Bottom-line: Great product. The clarity, punch and sound reproduction belies its rated power. I have the A-S1200 pushing to a set of Klipsch Forte IVs and the sound is amazing. The Fortes come alive. It als0 has no issues working with either of my turntables, Dual or Audio Technica. I have the Fortes bi-amped and would not have it any other way. Just simply great sound that takes me back 40 years to my younger days. The VU meters harken back to that golden period. Controls are straight forward and easy to use. Recommended to anyone interested in that bygone era.

Using The A S1200 as a pre amp with separate Dac and phono stage. I love how it's plays all formats and most of all the beautiful sound it produces is wonderful. The built and design also is a big winner

Overbuilt & Great looking. After 100 hours of use - My perception of the sound from this amplifier: Very Good Focus and Control of the Sound and speakers. Details are revealing, pleasant, and not too forward. The Full spectrum of sound comes across even at low volume. Well balanced and sounds very slightly on the warm side to my ears - which i really like! I think this is a great product! I have No complaints.

Before diving into the world of high-fidelity sound, consider the Yamaha A-S1200 2-Channel Integrated Amplifier. This powerful and reliable audio device is a tribute to the golden era of Hi-Fi, combining nostalgic design with advanced technology to deliver a purely musical and emotional sound experience.
The A-S1200 is more than just a durable amplifier; it's a testament to Yamaha's deep understanding of the emotional essence of music. This understanding is embedded in every facet of the A-S1200, from its high-quality components to its design philosophy. The goal is to convey the artist's emotion through the equipment, bringing listeners closer to the music they love.
One of the key features of the A-S1200 is its Toroidal Transformer, usually reserved for flagship Hi-Fi components. This transformer, combined with an array of high-end features, ensures that the musical emotion is accurately conveyed to the listener.
Adding to the nostalgic feel of the A-S1200 are the gorgeous level meters. These meters visually present the dynamics and pulse of the music, imbuing a warm feeling through their softly illuminated LEDs. This feature is a nod to the past while simultaneously demonstrating the return of pure Hi-Fi for today's discerning enthusiast.
The A-S1200 also boasts an open sound stage, similar to being at a live performance. This openness in sound transforms the listener's musical experience, bringing them closer to the artist. This is achieved through Yamaha's low impedance concept, aided by thick wires for ground connection, which is a critical component of premium Hi-Fi design.
The A-S1200 also features luxurious speaker terminals cut directly from pure brass. These terminals comfortably fit the human hand for effortless tightening, achieving a highly secure connection.
The amplifier also adopts a Mechanical Ground Concept, inherited from the A-S2200 and A-S3200. This design avoids unwanted vibration, achieving expressive and rhythmic bass, and presenting the 'Groove' of the music to the listener.
Completing the rigidity of the amplifier are the heavy-duty chrome-plated iron feet. The Yamaha A-S1200 2-Channel Integrated Amplifier is not just a piece of equipment; it's a bridge between you and the music you love.
