Excellent disc player

I have owned this player for 4 months and it has flawlessly. The picture quality and sound reproduction are excellent. It is slow on loading a disc. Sound reproduction from SACD's is awesome.

Great disc player

This is great disc player. The audio and video play back are excellent. I played Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon on SACD and the clarity of sound was incredible. Picture during Blu ray and DVD pay has excellent depth and range of color. If you're looking for a great disc player this is one is one to give serious consideration.

Excellent audio quality, a few glitches

I use my unit primarially for high quality audio playback with my Yamaha A-S2100 integrated amplifier. I make use of the balanced connections between the components and enjoy the very good audio quality. My video playback use case is modest, so I cannot notice any difference in video quality versus other devices I have used. The high quality DAC and audio circuitry are really the selling point here. You will not make use of that if you take your audio via the HDMI, but if you have two-channel audio produced by the DAC in this unit you will notice the difference versus lesser players. There are two bugs I would like to see fixed in firmware: 1) There is a VERY loud sound fed through the speakers when switching from playing a DSD file (such as DSF) to a PCM file (such as FLAC or WAV). I suspect that the DAC is briefly left in the wrong mode or a buffer is not flushed. It is so loud that it trips the protection circuitry and shuts down my amp if I forget to turn down the volume before switching to the new file. PCM to DSD transition does not produce the loud noise. Bug 2) Every DSF file I have tried only shows truncated metadata (the first character only is displayed of the Title / Artist / Album - see picture). I am sure this is easily fixed in a software update.

Great Value

Excellent audio quality. Would be nice to have variable analog audio to be more compatible with headphones/amplifier. This player accurately tracks the BDAV Blu-Ray discs I make with my separate recorder, including title headings.

Same Old Thing

How any electronics company, in this day and age, can manufacture a disc player, that apparently STILL doesn't play dvd/audio discs, along side the other formats, is incomprehensible, to me!!!!!!!!!!!!! And they have the nerve to put the "Aventage" name on it, too!!!!!!!!!!!!! A truly sad offering...and I was SO looking forward to this release. Pitiful...
