It's a very nice CD Player; great sound, great features, easy to use, the loading tray works great, awesome feature to have one disk playing while changing the others. USB input works well. Very quiet. Pure direct mode is cool. Well worth it as long as you are only going to use the digital output. (Optical). If that's the case I highly recommend it. It could be fantastic, but it has one major flaw - a very lackluster DAC. For the price, ($500 CAD new), this is simply unacceptable and this is why I give it 3 stars. I could stomach the DAC if it were cheaper. I have tried it with both the analog and digital outputs hooked up to a modern receiver, and there is quite a difference, with the digital being much better. On a vintage receiver with only analog inputs, this CD Player is simply outclassed by a cheap DVD/CD Player that I got for free! Very disappointing. The DAC makes music sound very compressed; so bad that it lowers the gain and cuts out A LOT of detail and fine sounds in music. Another smaller annoyance is that it won't play .flac files from USB. C'mon Yamaha, really?

I've had it for 3 weeks now and I am very happy. Very easy to operate, cds are easy to take in or out. Worthy of the price

I can't get the unit to play cd's 1 through 5 without stopping somewhere in the middle. The display is very small and I need a magnifying glass to see it. Not sure why it comes with the Auto Standby mode in the on position, which causes the unit to turn off suddenly. The Advanced Setup instructions to fix this are very hard to decipher, had to call to get coached on how to navigate. I agree with another review that complained about the remote user interface, lots of buttons that are really not needed. I have to put a lot of effort into just trying to play multiple cd's.

Very detailed and natural sound. Very high end, especially since it sounds better than other players I have and have auditioned that cost much more. Well built.

Replace an older Yamaha that gave great service.

Excellent component for those seeking a multi disc changer. Good value. Great sound. Easy connection and set-up. As with most any carousel CD player, initial power up results in a five disc scan that's a little time consuming, but is seems largely the nature of the beast. However, this should not discourage acquiring this component. Highly recommended.

This Yamaha replaced a 20-year-old Denon that I used heavily from new, which finally stopped tracking properly and could not be fixed for less than the cost of a new unit. I hope the Yamaha is as reliable. Since I'm a Nellie Negative, we'll skip right to the stuff that bugs me: The Denon had large buttons with easy-to-read icons. I'm far from old, but that really was nice. The Yamaha buttons are really tiny, and the icons that say what the buttons do are miniscule-type font that is unreadable. Guess I'll just have to memorize what the button locations do. The remote also has dozens and dozens of buttons, many of which really serve no purpose, and again the font is tiny and icons indecipherable. So while the player itself works great, the user interface sucks. But I bought the Yamaha for its reliability and sound quality, compared to other multi-disc changers, so I'll live with the bad UI.

unit sounds great ,but this is not my first Yamaha loading disc, two are allways in the rear the buttons on the unit are not label well at all, and the only way to use ramdam play is through the remote DAAA...... come on Yamaha your older units were better, not supposed to be that way.

Needed to replace my 20+ year old Sony changer which finally gave up the ghost. One has very limited choices these days when it comes to CD changers. I've always had faith in the quality of Yamaha components and this changer doesn't disappoint. I listen to a lot of jazz and I noticed an improvement in the sound quality almost immediately. The build is solid and the unit runs super quiet when changing over CD's. I especially like the PlayXchange feature. If you're an "old" dude like me with a large CD library this unit is well worth it's cost for listening to hours of top-shelf music.

I'll start by saying I am an audiophile, and when I want to listen to music for quality of sound, it's through my Sony 999 ES and usually SACD's. That being said, on the weekends, i like to have my own private radio station, and a five disk changer is perfect for me. CD's sound SO much better than MP3's. This player sounds fantastic, easy set up (two cables), quiet transport, and the random feature so far is great. The remote control is probably the worst remote I've ever seen. Hard to read, all the buttons are the same size, etc. It doesn't bother me because I use the Logitech Harmony. It works great with this player.

I bought this unit based on so many positive reviews, and no disappointment at all. Sounds great, easy set-up, easy to use. Yes, it's a little different from my old unit, but I'm getting used to it pretty quickly.

We listen to CD music, mostly classical, jazz, and American songbook. This CD player drives three sets of speakers with super audio fidelity. The CD-600 replaces the older CD-555 purchased in 1998.

The CD-C600 is garbage. It skips during playback. Right now mine is at a repair facility. It is the 4th unit Yamaha has shipped me in the last 12 months. I've had more days without a CD player than I've had with one because they are always being repaired or returned. They are all garbage. It is the worst CD player I have ever owned. No one should ever buy a CD-C600. And the customer support is terrible. I have been on the phone many times with customer support and all I want is a CD player that doesn't skip but no one can help me. I offered to pay to upgrade to a higher quality unit and was told it was not possible. I am very dissatisfied with the CD-C600. I gave it a 1 star because the site wouldn't let me leave a 0 star. Be warned: don't buy a CD-C600.

My only carp, after the first month of use, is that the back two bays on the 5 bay deck are hard to access.

This CD player rocks. I really enjoy the sound and the easiness that this player exhibits. Yamaha again makes this unit look fantastic and very sturdy. Thanks for a great unit..

The Yamaha CD-C600 is very good unit, with very good sound. I find the sound clean and rich. Set-up was very easy and the unit played the first time without any problems. The CD load time is a bit slow, however there are other brands that are slower. The CD tray opens to display all 5 CD bays at once. I find that the 2 back CDs are a bit awkward to remove. I myself favor the single CD removal option found on other 5 disc players. The USB port works with all my memory sticks and I have had no problem playing MP3 re-writable CDs recorded from my computer. It is important to note that the disc used must be ISO 9660 compatible. I find the Display area a bit narrow, however adequate and readable. The display has 4 brightness levels that can be accessed by the remote. The remote itself looks great and is logical. I would have liked Yamaha to display the commands in bolder type on the remote, as I have trouble reading it at times. I must state that I very much miss the calendar display that lists all tracks of the cd being played. I know few if any CD players have this feature, however that was not the case in the past. It is extremely helpful in programming mode. All said, the Yamaha CD-C600 has some nice features such as Disc Scan which scans beginning of all CDs, Play Memory Mode, which resumes your last track played and an Auto Standby feature. I think this is a very good unit that should merit serious consideration.

I bought this CD changer to relace an over 20 year old unit. I found it easy to set up and use. I did find it too easy to get wrong settings on the remote, e.g as random track selection. I also don't like the fact that many settings can only be made with the remote, since these items tend to be less relaible than the main unit. Sound wise, in combination with the new Yamaha receiver I purchased at the same time, it is great.

My new Yamaha CD-C600BL Compact Disk replaces an old single CD Magnavox player that was 30 years old. The Magnavox did not have the option of playing MP3s, music from my iPod or a flash drive. Moreover, having the luxury of loading multiple CDs is a convenience I truly enjoy. Coupling this Unit with the Yamaha R-S700 Natural Sound two Chanel Stereo Receiver is a perfect mate for quality of sound and compatibility. The CD-C600BL is made well and when the player switches to the next CD it is almost a seamless operation, very little dead air. I will just say I am glad I bought it.

I use the player at home in a home theatre setup. My CDs sound much better than they did with my older multi-disc player. The unit works a bit differently than other players I have owned, but I have adapted to this quickly after 1 month's use. The only feature I miss is the ability to spin the carousel to load CDs. The unit does load more slowly than I am accustomed to, but I experience this each time I upgrade a piece of audio or video equipment. I consider these to be minor issues. Overall, price and sound quality considered, I think this is a great unit and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality multi-disc CD player.

hello,I want to let you know how much I love this unit. All of my music has never sounded so good. I am hearing things in all my music that I have never heard before. It really is a marvelous piece of equipmentThat being said I am having one small problem. I wanted to wait until it happened a few times before I got in touch with you. The remote is intermittent. I think it is a bad contact in the remote. The only time it gives me trouble is when I use it for the first time that day. It will no...
