Five stars deserved
Perfect as a small travel guitar, but not only: I often take it and play it normally at home, instead of the "big sister"; it is really nice, very manageable, well finished ... five stars deserved.

Very nice guitar, but it could be better
I've had this guitar for about 4 months now, and spent quite a lot of time playing it. I really like the instrument, the looks, the craftsmanship that went into making it, but it has its flaws nevertheless. First of all, the lower notes sound a bit too thin to me. I wish Yamaha had decided to use a solid top, preferably solid cedar, it would have greatly improved the sound. But the guitar´s major flaw is its weight imbalance. For some reason, Yamaha decided to fit the guitar with a headstock that would be right for a 3/4 or 4/4 size guitar, but which is simply far too big and heavy for this little guitar. When playing it, the guitar has the tendency to 'dive', headstock down, so all the time you have to actively support the neck in order to prevent that from happening, which makes playing very awkward. From time to time, I even have had to interrupt my play to correct the instrument's position. Yamaha: please reduce the size and weight of the headstock (it would improve the esthetics of the guitar as well) or alternatively add some weight to the guitar's body, and add a solid top! If you do, I'm sure to buy another one! As it is now, I wouldn't recommend the GL1 to my friends.
