Review Summary

I purchased two HS7 speakers last week, for using together with virtual piano softwares in my home studio, for recordings, mixing, and some other stuff. I'm truly amazed by the clarity of their sound, nearly "the perfect sound". Mostly I use them for rec and mix solo piano and other acoustical instruments, like jazz bass, drums, vocal, etc, but whatever I listen through them, sounds always just great. The quality of the built material is very high too, and it got a simple, elegant design. Very professional, great product by the Yamaha, highly recommended!

I bought these to replace my KRK Rokit 5 G1s and to add to my Avantone Cubes and M-Audio BX8As. Of course, these are totally different than the KRKs and much better to be sure. I am still learning how to use them but each time I do, I like them better than before. The new Tweeter is outstanding and when boosted, it sounds similar (but better) to the Tweeter on the BX8A. Speaking of, the EQ switches on the back provide for very noticeable changes, however, the HS7s would be much better "Audio Tools" if the EQ Switches were on the front. In fact, if there was a Bass EQ boost and the EQ switches were on the front, these would be incredible.

Where precision and accuracy in sound reproduction are paramount, the HS7 6.5" 2-Way Bass-Reflex Bi-Amplified Powered Studio Monitor stands as a testament to Yamaha's commitment to delivering the most honest, precise audio reference. This studio monitor, with its iconic white woofer, is a product of Yamaha's decades-long expertise in sound technologies, making it a trusted choice in the industry.
The HS7 is a second-generation HS Series monitor that features a 6.5" model, expanding its exceptional accuracy to a wider variety of recording environments. This addition to the lineup, which includes 5", 8" models, and an 8" subwoofer, caters to a broad range of music production applications, making it an ideal choice for both professional and home studios.
This powered studio monitor is a 2-way bass-reflex bi-amplified near-field studio monitor, equipped with a 6.5" cone woofer and a 1" dome tweeter. It boasts a 43Hz - 30kHz frequency response and a 95W power amplification, achieved through a 60W LF plus 35W HF bi-amp system.
The HS7 also features ROOM CONTROL and HIGH TRIM response controls, and accepts balanced or unbalanced signals through XLR and TRS phone jack inputs. This ensures that it can adapt to the acoustics of rooms of varying shapes and sizes, providing a flexible control of high-frequency response.
Yamaha's sound philosophy is evident in the HS7. It emphasizes sonic purity, aiming to reproduce the original sound without any coloring or alteration. This is achieved through newly developed transducers that deliver smooth response over a wide range of bandwidth, and an advanced magnetic field design that regulates the flow of magnetic response for seamless, natural sonic transitions.
The HS7 also features a newly designed, highly efficient 1" dome tweeter that extends the usable frequency range and delivers superb high-resolution sound. The woofers, designed for ultra-responsiveness, utilize large, carefully selected magnets to produce low distortion sound with a well-defined bottom end at any output level.
The HS7's low resonance enclosure design eliminates unwanted resonance and increases the accuracy of sound reproduction. The enclosures are constructed from a very dense and resilient MDF with a damped acoustic response, perfect for reference monitors. The speaker port design incorporates advanced noise reduction technology, reducing audible noise up to 6dB and meeting the demands of strict professional production environments.
In conclusion, the HS7 6.5" 2-Way Bass-Reflex Bi-Amplified Powered Studio Monitor is a testament to Yamaha's commitment to delivering precise, accurate sound reproduction. Its advanced features and flexible controls make it an ideal choice for a wide range of music production applications.
