I've been wanting this guitar for some time, had seen a lot of great reviews on line. Decided to pull the trigger and I'm Wowed by this guitar. It has all of the features I was looking for and more. Great nut width, ebony fret board and bridge, a 'lil pearl inlay, 12 strings, and awesome sounding guitar that doesn't need much of a set up in my opinion. At a very small price point considering solid tone woods thru and thru. The string spacing in great, I can strum or play finger style with this guitar. I don't know why I didn't buy this guitar in the first place! Very happy with purchase.

This guitar is simply marvelous to play and enjoy. Play mostly DADGAD or Open D and even with the lighter strings it just works. Play finger style or pick - slide - what a blast. Nut width a bit narrower at 46mm compared to other makes at 48 or wider, but the shape of the Yamaha neck makes it work. No problem playing chords or runs. Tried other makes and neck was just too chunky making it difficult to work. The Engelmann top with rosewood balances the sound nicely without excessive "jangle". It's there, but not overpowering. Simply a joy to play.

....great 12 string...plays like butter, and sounds magical. Would have given it a "5" if the Abalone was around the body, rather than just the sound hole.

Just added this guitar to my collection of 16 guitars. I record my own backing tracks and play along with them at live performances. I was wanting a decent 12-string acoustic for recording certain backing tracks, but didn't want to spend a lot since it would see limited use. I've had quite a few guitars come in and out of my possession over the years. Some went out the door about as soon as they came in because of disappointing build quality, playability, tone etc. The LL16-12 ARE is so much more than what I thought I would receive!!! I mean I thought the guitar would definitely be usable for what I needed it for, but this thing is ridiculously good in every aspect! I like it so much I ordered the 6-string LL16R. Thank you Yamaha??

Perfect for a big, bold acoustic sound and perfectly suited to the wide tonal range of a 12-string, the Yamaha LL16-12's (Natural) use of solid Englemann spruce and solid rosewood makes for excellent projection and a superbly balanced, powerful sound.
5-ply Neck
The 5-ply neck of mahogany and rosewood designed with a volute at the headstock plus a double action adjustable rod creates a neck with excellent strength and stability.
Traditional Neck Profile
A reevaluation of string spacing, string height, fingerboard binding, and neck taper led to a new neck shape that better fits today's traditional players. The new design offers a stable grip and smooth playability.
SRT Zero Impact Pickups
The SRT Zero Impact Pickup system is a newly developed passive type pickup system designed to minimize the pickup's impact on the tone and traditional appearance of the instrument. The system utilizes individual piezoelectric elements for each string to faithfully reproduce the dynamic sound of the L-Series and give the instrument outstanding presence.
Newly Designed Bracing Pattern
A modified non-scalloped bracing design retains the L series' characteristic bright tone while enhancing low-end tone. Treating the tops with Yamaha's exclusive A.R.E. process gives the instrument a rich, vintage quality tone making it sound, from the first time you pick it up, as though it has been played for years.
Acoustic Resonance Enhancement
A.R.E. is an original wood reforming technology developed by Yamaha. Through precise controll of temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, the molecular properties of the wood can be manipulated into a more acoustically ideal condition, similar to the molecular characteristics of woods in instruments that have been played for years.
Yamaha L Series Handcrafted Guitars
Crafted using time-honored techniques and construction, the L Series builds on Yamaha's enduring heritage of acoustic instrument design to create instruments that meet and exceed the demands of today's guitarists. Featuring a classic shape and exquisite mother-of-pearl inlays, these guitars possess the unique combination of well-rounded tone, superb playability and excellent dynamic range exemplified by the L Series. For stage performances, high-quality pickups capture every nuance of your playing, giving you the perfect vehicle to harness your inspiration and let your creativity flow.
