Great system
Have it set up in our family room that is about average size with high ceilings . Use it with IPods , Bluetooth and airplay from computers /phones. I love how clear and crisp everything sounds but it needs a good week for the speakers relax . The sound gets more full as it breaks in . I added a small Polk sub and wow is this thing perfect now.
I don't need a big 1985 style tower speaker system for daily use so this fits my use.
I recommend this to everyone I know .
Don't be fooled into thinking this is a toy because of the low price.

A fine small system with wide capability
I've had my system for more than a year. I've added in a Yamaha subwoofer and use vTuner internet radio as well as the inputs for my analog turntable.
I have a small house so the sound is fine and so far, it is reliable. I'm a happy camper!
I recommend it.

aa welll made built system
This system is best for streaming audio and CD. Sounds Great. 3 Band EQ is Great.

Slightly disappointed
I use it as an sound extension for TV/DVD/XBOX, as FM/Internet Radio and bluetooth receiver. I have to say it - the best money I have spent in a long time.
Sound is really great and the technical potential of this Hi-Fi is huge, although the device is small. I also liked Android App (PLAYER CONTROLLER) - Thank You Yamaha.
Now, less nice things - how stupid is to provide digital input (COAXIAL and S/PDIF) and no downmixing sound from DTS 5.1 to Stereo 2.0. It's totally obvious that part of users of this HiFi will connect it to TV/DVD or Game Console - than they have to connect it through analog cabel (then the sound is much more poor) and the pleasure of listening to disappear.
Small FirmWare upgrade ... Yamaha, it all I'm asking!

Lacks playlists and Android audio
I'd give 5 Stars if only it either supported Playlists on USB storage devices or supported audio playback from USB connected Android devices.
If you have iPhone/iPad, however, you won't notice any of these shortcomings.
That said, it's still Yamaha audio, so sound quality is far better than other mini-systems in the same price range. For comparison, you'd need to assemble your own components after much research and effort.
Plays uncompressed and compressed FLAC, fixed bit-rate MP3, Amazon's MP3 and iTunes-generated MP3 all equally well.
Support staff were helpful and friendly in definitively answering the question (and feature request) about lack of Playlists such as .m3u files on USB storage devices. If this feature would be useful to you, please contact Support, because firmware may be upgraded via Internet updates.
