They went into the potato cellar powered with a low cost Class D BT amp. Got surprisingly good fidelity and volume in the large area. Some would probably like more bass, but the mids highs are OK.

I was using Yamaha indoor speakers that I couldn't mount for my outside patio. It was a real issue setting them up and putting them away so I decided to buy a medium priced set of outdoor speaker. I like the Yamaha sound and thought these would be good. Easy to set up, they are perfect for my outdoor patio area. I recommend these for smaller outdoor spaces! #sweepstakes

We have enjoyed our Yamaha whole house speakers for many years. Just added them to a new deck outside and they deliver the same great sound!

I always wanted to put speakers out on our deck. Got these for Christmas, waited for warmer weather to install them. Very glad I got these outdoor Yamaha brand. They sound great

I just bought these in the hope of setting them up this weekend, but I'm having a hard time mounting them under the eave of my back wall. I want to mount them from the ceiling so as not to have to make additional holes in my siding. If the wings on the brackets were a bit longer, they would allow the ends of the speakers to pivot out so that I can direct the sound toward the living space. Don't see any sites that offer simple alternative brackets either.

I'm very happy with these speakers. I replaced a pair of Insignia outdoor speakers with Yamaha. Big improvement in bass especially at higher volumes. Incredibly clear sound even at 100 yards from the mounting point.

I use this attached to the exterior wall of my detached garage. I am using my old 1960's Sansui 5000A amplifier. The hook up was pretty easy and the sound outside is great. It really helps having those bigger speakers.

Hard to beat these speaker for sound quality and price. I paired them with a Pyle mini 2x40 amplifier and added a small subwoofer for more bass and I have a great little sounding stereo system poolside. Loud enough to cover a 1250sqft pool deck area and not bother the neighbors.

Set these up outside to enjoy poolside. Two speakers work great for my size yard. Quick and easy to set up. Can't beat the sound quality for the price paid.

I gave these an overall rating of 4 stars mainly because there are better speakers out there. But, you pay twice as much for them (including some Yamahas). In their price range, these are great little speakers. Some of the reviews I read before making my purchase accused them of being a little thin in the bass department. These are 2 way speakers. These aren't towers that go in your living room. Of course they're a little thin in the bass department. Keep in mind what these speakers are for and what the price range is. If you don't lose sight of those 2 facts, these are nice little speakers. The other negative comment I read was that these speakers aren't very sensitive and won't play loudly. I am powering them using the B jacks of my home theater receiver. It is an old Yamaha RXV-995. It delivers 100 watts per channel. Before mounting them, I plugged them into the A jacks. I wanted to make sure they weren't defective before I mounted them and I wanted to hear them with my sub. I have some pretty high end speakers that I normally run in the living room. I was amazed at how good these speakers sounded by adding the bass of my sub. I'm an old rock guy. I like my music loud. If you have them properly powered, you will have plenty of volume. And like any good Yamaha product, they sound very clean. These are very easy to wire and mount. You just mount the bracket to something solid and sturdy like a beam under a patio or porch. Attach a safety wire, wire the speakers, and screw the speakers to the bracket using these very large, very easy to handle screws. The safety wire is a great idea. First, it can hold the speaker while you're doing the wiring and mounting. Second, If for some reason the screws holding the speaker to the breacket ever fail, it will catch the speaker and keep it from crashing to the ground. Final thoughts - If you are trying to add music to your backyard, pool area... and don't want to break the bank, these are a great choice. They aren't going to have the same bass response as 3 way towers, but no 2 ways are. Properly power them, crank up the tunes, and enjoy another great Yamaha product.

I listened to these in the store-it was the best sounding speakers there. Better than Klipsh, Bose and Polk. The bass sounded a little weak on their system, but when I got them home, my old Realistic receiver and 12 band graphic equalizer made them sound fantastic, with even more bass than I needed. Excellent product and sound for a reasonable price!

Allows ease of installation with a safety wire - so you can make connections easily without having to support the speaker with one hand and jostle with wires and buttons with the other. Not the cheapest, but best for the money in sound quality especially at low volumes for background music while entertaining outdoors.
