Review Summary

This piano has many pros and a few of cons: 1. GHC is a new hammer action, which is not as close as PH4 (Roland) and GHS (Yamaha) to a real piano. You notice when you go higher on keys (white ones to be more specific) it becomes harder to press, and you feel more resistance. That means you may hear less of that note. 2. There are number of songs, rythms and voices on this Piano. I think it is okay. At the end of the day you can connect it to other devices to use it as Midi controller, and their voice can be played on the Piano. Pretty impressive. 3. About connectivity this model lacks bluetooth midi, but I read online it usually has latency. So, that's probably not that important. Also, with a $60 adapter it can be fixed. This was a feature on roland FP-30x out of the box. 4. One mind blowing feature is the headphone sound, which totally feels like it comes from Piano, not someone playing next to your ear. 5. user interface is good, while the app make it perfect. I wish I was able to connect the app for control through bluetooth. That's biggest flaw on this piano since due to lack of any digital screen and incovenient UI you have to use app. And it has to be connected through USB. Pretty inconvenient. 6. Pedal which comes with Piano is useless, wondering if they can reduce the price by removing it. Or increase the price by adding a good pedal. 7. while wire is required for app, the App is great!

When you are ready to play, it doesn't get in your way. It's inventively uncomplicated while at the same time offers very complex configuration options. Its capable and has a deep, rich sound you'd expect from Yamaha. Playing on it is a joy: it is very, very much like playing an acoustic piano. Advanced features are nice. I may never use them. But I'm happy to know they are there. Full video review https://youtu.be/1k4EQaBiOZc

The GHC (compact) action is unfortunately not as good as GHS (standard). The lever is too short, so there is significantly less key travel near the back of the keys. Not suitable for complex passagework, but fine for beginners. The integrated speakers are mediocre. I would recommend using headphones or using external studio monitors for a more convincing presentation. For the price, the piano represents good value, but don't expect any miracles.

Make every note count with the P-225 88-Note Digital Piano with Weighted GHS Action, a compact yet powerful instrument from Yamaha's renowned P Series. This digital piano is designed to meet the demands of advanced players, offering the authentic feel of an acoustic piano in a more manageable size and weight.
The P-225 boasts a sleek, compact design that is both visually appealing and functional. Its slim, lightweight body is easy to move and fits seamlessly into any room decor. The piano is available in classic black or crisp white, allowing you to choose the color that best matches your aesthetic.
At the heart of the P-225 is the newly developed GHC (Graded Hammer Compact) keyboard. This 88-key keyboard is built to the highest standards, offering the same weighted, acoustic piano-like playing feel as the GHS (Graded Hammer Standard) keys used in previous P Series models. This ensures a realistic playing experience, with the keys responding accurately to quick passages and offering a sufficient soft-to-loud dynamic range.
The P-225 features the sounds of Yamaha's premier concert grand piano, the CFX. This model uses advanced Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) Lite technology to replicate the expressive tonal changes that occur in a real grand piano. This allows you to enjoy the sound of a concert grand that's played and loved by renowned pianists, without the need for tuning.
This digital piano is not just about performance; it's also about versatility. It features 24 Voices, including several grand piano voices, Stage E.Piano, DX E.Piano, Jazz Organ, Strings, and more. It also comes with 71 preset songs, covering a variety of genres from light classical to baroque masterpieces, R&B, pop music, and more.
The P-225 also offers built-in Bluetooth audio, allowing you to pair your Bluetooth-enabled device and play music through the piano's speakers. It also features a Sound Boost function for enhancing the instrument's sound as you play and record, and a Stereophonic Optimizer for a natural, comfortable experience when performing with headphones.
To make your practice sessions more effective and enjoyable, the P-225 offers recording, metronome, and rhythm functions. It also comes with Yamaha's dedicated "Smart Pianist" digital piano app, which allows you to perform all operations on the P-225 from your smart device.
The P-225 88-Note Digital Piano with Weighted GHS Action is more than just a piano; it's a complete music solution that offers superior sound, versatile features, and a sleek, compact design. Whether you're an advanced player or a serious beginner, the P-225 is the perfect choice for your musical journey.
