I couldn't justify getting the a3070 for the extra money, as the constraints of my current home limit utility. But this is a pretty amazing unit. The decoding is fantastic, and I'm sure it'll be even better once I have some Atmos speakers installed. Setup was easy. Changing "scene" defaults can be a little bit challenging at first but once they're set it's a snap to go back and forth. It's well worth the price of admission. This has really got me excited to install some Atmos speakers.

This unit was much larger than our old Denon. I had to cut out more of the back of my component cabinet to accommodate it. I am still trying to figure out which sound adjustment are the best for us. The TV picture appears to be sharper than it was with our Denon. We are very happy that it runs cooler than the Denon did. We wish it had a power outlet so other components would shut off automatically when the Yamaha was shut off.

Amazing receiver. It replaced a Onkyo and the sound difference is amazing. Still have the same speakers and after doing the YPAO setup you can hear the difference. Very happy with the performance

Is it just me or is it real, but I noticed that music streaming sounds sweeter and crisper, and the movie dialogues too, are clearer.

Have not had this receiver long enough to say something bad about it and doubt that I will ever find anything to complain about. I am a happy owner of several other Aventage series receivers and they never failed my trust in service and the sound quality. A2070 is a monster when compared by size to A550 I used to have before it in my home theater. It was a significant sound quality jump to feel the upgrade justifiable when I got A2070. Room calibration capability alone was one of the major factors for me wanting this upgrade. When it comes to Aventage series receivers, you can't go wrong. Just pick one which has most of the features you need and go for it. If money is not an issue, get yourself one of these A1070/A2070/A3070 receivers - you won't regret!

That’s my fourth receiver. I had Harman-Kardon, Marantz, Onkyo before and the Yamaha is so far the best I ever had. I can’t believe what my ears are hearing. The sound is so much clearer and detailed, the bass is tighter. The surround effects are better distributed to my surround and hight speakers. I’m pairing the receiver with Klipsch RP280F RP250C RP240S and HSU VTF2 MK4 subwoofer. No problems with passing through 4K HDR and Dolby Vision formats from my Apple TV. Having built-in Tidal is a nice feature. Also the receiver is very massive, rock solid and well built. It’s like a tank. I knew for many years Yamaha has been famous with their quality built receivers but I didn’t listen to the reviews and kept buying different brands. Now I’m realizing what I have been missing. If you are looking for a quality high end receiver look no further! You won’t go wrong with Yamaha Aventage series!

I replaced a Pioneer Receiver with the Yamaha RX-A2070. Sound and usability now are much better than before. Also the connectivity is impressing. But one thing disappoints me: I cannot use a Surround-Decoder like Dolby-Surround oder DTS:Neural-X in combination with the Cinema-DSP. Thus it is impossible to use the Dialogue-Lift Feature in combination with 2.0 Dolby-(Prologic)-Encoded sources like ordinary TV-Broadcasts.
