I use the 3070 for home theater applications. I watch 1080p & 4k Blu-ray movies on the Yamaha RX-a3070. I also use this unit for listening to the radio in 2 channel. What I didn't like about the Yamaha is that it was very difficult to set up. However, it is a great performer on multi-channel home theater mated with Klipsch speakers RF-7 series iii with matching center channel & surrounds, and two 15 inch servo subs. My system sounds amazing!

The Yamaha rx-a3070 is a fantastic receiver. I'm currently running a 9.2 system at works great, and has plenty of power for most needs. I have it set up to output the same video to two separate devices, one a Samsung tv and the other an Epson projector. My only issue is that I have turn both the tv and projector on for the Yamaha to pass video initially. If I only turn on my projector and attempt to play something I will get video then black screen repeatedly. As soon as I turn on the Samsung tv then video stabilizes. I can turn it off after that and video will resume just fine on the projector. My guess is this is due to some type of HDMI handshake since I have both HDMI outputs active. But other than this one quirk it seems to work great!

Overall I really like the 3070a. My biggest complaints are all volume related. The volume steps are super small, which means when adjusting the volume, rather than simply hitting volume up or down a couple times, you end up having to hold the volume button and try to time it right to get the volume increase you want. I also don't like how the volume level needs to be at about 75% to get to listening level with Kef Q100 speakers. The Kef speakers weren't an issue with the 2 cheapo receivers I had before. The Yamaha 1060 was the same way as the 3070 too. My final issue is that the volume number starts at -100db and goes to +25db (I don't remember the exact numbers, but they go both ways of zero). Why aren't they all on one side or the other side of zero? All that said, I would buy the receiver again, as the build quality and sound quality seems very good. Most of my previous experience is with cheap RCAs, Denons and Pioneers though. So keep that in mind.

I had a Harman Kardon 7300 prior to buying a HK 3700. The 7300 was the best sounding avr I have ever had. I had the HK 3700 for five months now and realized it wasn't what I wanted. After researching the newer amps I decided to buy the Yamaha 3070. It is similar to power and sound of the HK 7300 but has better build quality. I feel it is an acceptable substitute and has been updated with the newer features so that is a plus. I am still figuring it out at this point but can tell you that I like it much better than Marantz and Denon who are it's primary competitors. If you are buying an amp in this market I think this is the best amp for the money.

It's a great receiver. I have been learning more about it day by day. Only issue I have is that YPAO is not that great at calibrating the speakers placement. It would be great if it would be improved with a firmware/software upgrade. Also, I would love to see Auro3D capability.

I have experienced airplay issues, while wired with Ethernet. My three other receivers have no airplay issues on the same network and connected to the same Ethernet cable. I also can find no input skip option to lessen the seemingly endless input options on the rotary input selector. If you roll past the input you are looking for, accidentally, then you will be going for another 20 inputes or so until it comes back around. Build and amplifier quality seem excellent. One other concern I have is that the speaker ohm setting is in a hidden menu that is difficult to access. The speakers I have say they are 8 ohm, but reviews and tests have found them to be fairly low impedance at certain frequencies. I can not tell if I should set the amp to 6 or 8 ohm and the manual doesn’t really make it clear if there is a risk of setting it to 6 ohm or 4 ohm if the speakers are in fact 8 ohm. Overall, less user friendly than the Denon I am replacing. But not a bad amplifier. At that point it is a three or four star receiver, but I have to lean toward three stars because these seem like unnecessary oversights.

Pretty impressed with the sound thus far. This was purchased to update an older NAD unit and the extra power really makes my Dynaudio Contour speakers sing... very much a brighter sound, whether the tweeters are responding to the additional power or the amp leans towards the highs, unsure. A few odd issues: HDMI can't be used as an input if you want to power zones 2/3 - kind of a disappointment, but just put in the Toslink and it's dandy. The zones are not in sync. There's a slight delay when using the other zones but if you turn on Party Mode it goes away (changed surround modes, didn't alleviate).

Absolutely love it! Switched from a Marantz and this compliments my Klipsch setup quite well. Love the functionality and ease of use with their app. Improved sound quality that was well worth the price!

I love the receiver and the price of a new one from Adorama was only slightly higher than the price of a refurbished one from another seller. The features have been explained to death by the many other reviewers who beat me to the punch. Essentially, the majority of the things that you read are true. I have a little difficulty with the remote control application. It's not intuitive. I'm getting better at it. I upgraded from a 6 year old Pioneer and am pleased with my decision to move to Yamaha.

Still trying to figure it out, so far not very impressed as to why this is so much more Superior/expensive then it's more budget counterparts - and I am coming from a purely sound perspective, not internal components, not what the chassis is made of or nothing like that. Hoping to play/calibrate it some more and return 2 update my review to a little bit more favorable??

I replaced my RX-A1030 with RX-A3070. Two series above mine. So far the quality of the sound and the video is excellent. I do recommend this product for those people love Yamaha receivers and already own one.

I went from a yamaha aventage a1040 to this one. It has a little more tech, 150wpc vs my old one at 110wpc, and a better DAC. I wasn't sure I would notice a huge difference and definitely wouldn't have paid 2000 for the minor upgrade. However, the price on sale couldn't be beat when purchased in a package, and I actually DO notice a difference in better sound. My polk audio rtia3 bookshelf speakers sound more lively, more powerful, and in surround mode everything seems more dynamic. I would say a 15% improvement in overall sound over my old setup. Its better, but not huge if that makes sense.

I love this receiver. The sound quality on this is amazing. It supports my speaker setup, and I can expand in the future. It has dolby atmos and sounds great. I love the iphone app as well to manage settings on it. Works great with all the HDMI inputs. I would recommend this receiver to anyone that is looking for great sound and many hdmi inputs.

Upgrading from Yamaha RX A800 and this is a huge leap. Upgraded few speakers as well. Repurposed ceiling ones for Atmos and added rear surrounds. Whoa. What an amazing receiver.

This is my 2nd Yamaha AVR, the first was the 3050, although after 1.6 years of perfect service it failed to power on after powering it off to move it. Yamaha fixed it in 2 weeks and paid for shipping, but it left a bad impression as prior I had a top of line JVC AVR for 8-10 years and never had an issue. According to the tech he said they rarely see them and not to be discouraged. So, my friend wanted my 3050, sold it to him and bought the 3070 from A4L (refurb) for just $300 more than what I sold the 3050. Its been great, basically the same as 3050 with some improvements, I can tell the new Pro 9026 DAC's are little clearer plus they are on all 7 channels, my Kilpsch RF tower speakers are tad brighter, my dual Velodyne 12/10 subs sound better to name a few items. I've only had for week and I am still playing/learning some of the other features. I've been a Yamaha manufacture fan for awhile as I raced motocross (yz250) and sport bikes and owned there products. My friend got back to me and loves the 3050, says he hears things he never did with his older AVR.

I just switched from an Onkyo TX-NR receiver to this model and the sound is much better. I can hear sounds better now my with a 7.2.2 setup. I have a Logitech Harmony elite remote and an LG OLED 65 inch tv.

This receiver replaced my Denon AVR-5800 what was 10 or so years old and cost $4K when purchased. I was really concerned about the amp section on this one but once I heard it all my worries went away. This thing has a ton of power and options for days.

I love my new RX-A3070! It has plenty of power to drive my 7.2.2 theater system to reference levels, has tons of features, processes pretty much every known audio format, has a great Bluetooth app, looks good, built like a tank, and so far has worked flawlessly, with exception of it doesn't seem to pass 3D video via the HDMI for some reason. Its possible I'm doing something wrong somewhere across the components involved, but everything is supposed to be 3D compatible but I can't get the picture right in 3D. I'll keep working the 3D problem, but beyond that, the 3070 is a great receiver!

I recently upgraded to 4K and needed to get a compatible receiver with 4K switching and Dolby Atmos. Since I was using an RX-A2010 I was leaning toward the RX-A2070. In reading about the 3070, the DACs were better than the lower model but you also had to pay a bit more. I finally decided to go with the 3070 for those DACs. After I hooked the receiver up and calibrated the system with YPAO, I immediately noticed the superior performance of the DACs (in comparison to my old unit). Everything just sounds better now and the music is much more detailed. Even though I got this receiver primarily for the video features, I must say the improvement in sound/music is really why I love this receiver. As far as video and Dolby Atmos, everything seems to be working well and I have had no issues. I have a limited number of 4K discs and they seem to look and sound great on my upgraded system. One thing that wanted to try out was musiccast since that was not available in my last speaker. I found a great sale and picked a couple of WX-010 speakers. I really was not expecting much but the sound quality from the small speakers was surprisingly good. Also, I recently bought Roon music playback software and Roon understands musiccast so that I can play to musicast units through my wifi network. Roon sees musiccast as airplay units allowing direct playback and volume control. This is unexpected and extremely useful for me. To sum my experience up, the RX-A3070 does everything I was expecting it to do -and frequently it performs better than I was expecting it to. Features such as musiccast are well done and quite enjoyable.

My aging RX-A3000 receiver has finally been replaced with this receiver. Following the same great build and sound quality I've known for years the 3070 does not disappoint. With a recent addition of a 4K tv and Blu-ray player it was time to complete my system. Along with the 4k support I am really enjoying all the streaming options built in. MusicCast is also pretty amazing.

This is my first Yamaha receiver after many years of Denon AVRs with a few Onkyos mixed in. I replaced a fantastic Denon AVR 4308 in my dedicated theater room with this Yamaha RX-A3070. I loved the Denon as with all of the Denon's before it. I find the Yamaha sound is a little bit brighter than the Denon which takes a little bit of getting used to, but the Yamaha is an absolute powerhouse and powers my Paradigm mains ,SVS elevation and subs, and Def Tech Trinity sub with authority and awesome features!

This is my 4th Yamaha Receiver and it's an amazing upgrade from my Aventage RX A2020. The audio is much more refined. Localization is much improved and Dolby Atmos and DTS X sound absolutely amazing. Super easy to set up. YPAO got the distances right on my speakers on the first try. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Yamaha for LIFE!!!
