Finally. This solved my 4K pass through challenges from previous products. I owned a 4K30 unit from Sony that was not HDCP2.2 compliant, and this has been the bane of my experience as an early adopter of 4K two years ago. Those days are over. I am able to run 4K60 directly to my JVC projector including BT.2020 color and HDR. This product meets expectations and then some, although I have not yet tested all features I have spot checked most of them. It does run hot. I measured the top surface with a Fluke 289 meter and thermocouple over a couple hours' use and it reached 102F in an open-back cabinet, although it did not warn or shut down. I therefore have added a fan unit on top to draw air through the chassis, an AC infinity T8. This does the job, even on the lowest fan setting, keeping its average temp below 95F using an 85F threshold value. I have not seen any Bluetooth issues as was mentioned, running Amazon Music over my iPhone6s. I also tested the direct WiFi streaming on Amazon and it works. Firmware update was easy over direct Ethernet. It is nice that the preamps still provide signal boost. I have not yet tried the microphone calibration but I think this will be helpful. The test tone feature is nice to test surround and Atmos setup. I am running the 7.2.4 with front ext. amplification, with the surround back disabled, so there is some customization possible. Each speaker level can be adjusted up to +10dB. I am neutral on the AI feature so far as I like to customize, but it does appear to decode quickly. The only glitch I noticed so far was the setup menu blacked out a couple of times during playback but this does not appear during normal playback so it may be something in the software.

The 3080 met all my expectations - sound quality, configuration flexibility, and value. Separates vs 3080. I landed on Bryston amp for my mains and paired with the 3080. I found they work together nicely as combo for for 2 ch and 7.1 ch - audio, 7.1 movies or SACDs. I also use the multizone to send music outdoors and patio room. The remote control app over wifi works flawlessly for me. So very satisfied with my purchase. The Yamaha 3080 is a hidden gem. I did my my research.

After many years of previous receivers failing on me due mechanical failure, of one or the other, it was time to find me a receiver that I would enjoy as home theater receiver along with enjoying music and listening to my vinyl collection. I shy away from Yamaha receivers for quite sometime, until a friend of mine own a Yamaha receiver set up. He had Yamaha DVD player then he later upgraded to Blue Ray, but didn't upgrade his receiver, it still sounded awesome. I waited a bit longer, until Yamaha came out with the Advantage line up and research everything about it and compared it with other receivers and Yamaha won me over with what their receivers has to offer. Once I hooked it up and ran the system through, I was just blown away about the 3D sound field it produces. Unlike the other receivers I own, they got too warm or too hot, (some had internal fans to cool, and they failed.) This receiver didn't warm too much even at high volume. Overall, best receiver I've own so far.

Home theater is great as long as you have 9.2 channels or less, and you can save money compared to the 11.2 flagship models of competitors. The YPAO calibration is nearly useless unfortunately, would highly recommend changing the speaker settings manually or modifying the settings after using YPAO auto calibration. The unit looks nice and the user interface is nice. Haven't spent enough time with it to comment on the performance with music. I do think the surround AI is nice, which is unique to Yamaha I believe. Would purchase again.

This is the heart of my Home Theater and its performance is nothing short of spectacular. The Surround AI is fantastic, and it has tons of power to drive your speakers at reference volumes. Very detailed with music and very easy to set up and use. Highly recommended.

I experienced a Yamaha RX-A3010, for 8 year, and was very happy with what it was capable of. Unfortunately I believe it overheated and stopped working. I researched the most popular AV Receivers available, and found the Yamaha RX-A3080 had everything I wanted (including the sound capability (11.2 speaker + watts, zone options), newest technologies (ATMOS sound, Bluetooth / WiFI). I also like the new setup menu that includes detailed explanations. My only concern is: AV Receivers heat up, which can cause circuitry failure. For the price of this receiver, Yamaha needs to incorporate a cooling fan system within the unit to help reduce the heat generated by the circuity .

The signal dropped randomly, I got no issue with my onkyo receiver before. I switched all the cable and the player it still happened randomly. After I used another input on my Sony TV, the dropping issues seemed solved but the sound is delayed when I skipped the chapter in the movies, which also happened randomly. Great price for such receiver and I hope new firmware will take care of the problems. Not sure it’s the compatibility issue or defect. Sound quality is good and detail but maybe too bright. Subwoofer calibration trim level was too high, I’m using SVS SB16 Ultra in a small room. I have to reduced -8db on the result to achieve comfortable level.

This is not my first time buying from Adorama and this time is even better. The RX-A3080 was not on sale but they allowed me to use the sale code from the 2080 for the buy. The free delivery was quick and as promised. The Yahama receiver sounds great and much stronger than my old Denon. Overall, the service is good and trust worthy.

Fantastic receiver. This Yamaha replaced Onkyo TX SR-805. The Onkyo still worked, but was limited with only 3 HDMI outputs. This Yamaha is pretty loaded, and at first, setup seems a bit overwhelming. Once the cables are in place, it’s pretty much plug and play.Once I got this receiver going, I noticed right away how great the sound was. The separation in the tracks and channels of music is really great. There are a ton of settings that you can adjust, and once you get settled, you should definitely download the Yamaha app. Within the app, you can use your android/IOS phone as a remote, and tweak the sounds even further(and quite easily!).So far the picture from my streamers, and blu-ray has been great as well. The sound from streaming, DVD-A’s and SACD’s has been unbelievable as well.Other thoughts: the remote is back-lit, but some buttons are still small and hard to read(day or night). I have not noticed the receiver running to hot(warm to touch). WIFI- connectivity good.

The original order was for a Yamaha 3070 which failed after 9 days. Being a close out item my only option was to order the new 3080 model. Adorama made the return easy and within a week I had the replacement. They sold me the new model at a great price and all my charges and credits were correct on my charge card. They took what could have been a disaster and made it into a positive experience. I love the new 3080.

I have been a happy Yamaha receiver owner since 1976. This is now my fourth unit from Yamaha. The Yamaha RX-A 3080 is nothing short of an outstanding AV Receiver. It provides every type of connectivity most people would require. The newly designed remote is back-lit, weighty, and easy to use. The Yamaha AV Controller App (Remote App for Smart Phones) is also fantastic and I use it when listening to music or movies to quickly adjust settings. I use the receiver remote to adjust configuration settings. The sound is rich, full of bodied and provides plenty of power and detail you may have missed hearing previously. I have mine set up for 7.1.4 using an external Yamaha R-1000 2 channel receiver from the 80's (100 watts Per Channel RMS) for the rear presence channels. I am also using the Yamaha YST-315 sub woofer (10” speaker). The system shares the house when listening to movies. Here's a little advice to help you get set up quickly. Do a firm ware update before calibrating the new receiver with YPAO. Set you main speakers and surrounds “to flat” if they are adjustable. Make sure each speaker has a clear line of sight (no obstructions from plants, pillows, furniture, etc.). If your speakers are slanted toward the main seating area, also adjust the front of the sub to match your other speakers. Set your sub to “Music” or it's most flat position. Do not place your sub woofer parallel to the wall. Place it on a 45 degree angle. Now your ready to run YPAO. After reviewing your Level Settings, make sure all levels especially the sub woofer are approximately the same. If your other speaker levels are adjusted up or down by +/-1 DB, your sub woofer should also be within that same level range. It is +/- 10 DB, preposition your sub woofer and run YPAO again. I use Speaker Pattern 1 for music, (YPAO as is) and Speaker Pattern 2 for movies (all speakers set to small with 80 Hz crossover except front and center which are large). Mine sounds simply fantastic in Dolby Atmos and in DTS-X. You will get completely absorbed enjoying your movies and music. Enjoy!

I became a Yamaha fan after years of trial & error. Over my 30 years or so of Home Theater hobbying many a' surround AV receiver has graced my livingroom. Listen, from Sony, JVC (yes back in the 80's), RCA, Panasonic, Denon, etc.. you get the point, none delivered that 3D sound like Yamaha. None! Moreover, Yamaha delivers that 3D sound even in their entry level AVR's. Not to mention, "all" units can drive Ohm loads that will overheat other AV receivers ala' Onkyo for example. If you're an Onkyo owner you know what I mean. The Onkyo AV receivers get HOT! That shortens the life of the AVR. Entry level Yamaha receivers never get hot. They decode & deliver surround sound with realism without breaking a sweat or getting hot. Check this out? I know this Yamaha AVR boasts SABRE D.A.C.s, but, their lesser or cheaper models use Burr-Brown D.A.C.s for the digital to analog sound conversion. Burr-Brown D.A.C.s are 2nd to none & Yamaha uses them in even their entry level models. That's quality my friends. I cannot tell you enough at how superior Burr-Brown is to other D.A.C.s that other Manufacturers use. Yes, the D.A.C does make a huge difference in both 2,0 stereo and surround sound performance. So, Yamaha doesn't wimp out in any way in any of their AV receivers. After years of learning my lessons, I'll only buy Yamaha AVRs. When I throw in a Blu Ray or stream a Netflix film, I wanna hear & feel that "3D sound" I experienced at the Cinema. Yamaha is the only brand that has ever delivered that "make ya' duck" when a bullet whizzes by kind of surround sound. No doubt in my mind, if you want true "Dolby Surround" then Yamaha is the only receiver you should employ in your system. Well, that's my 2 cents. It's up to you now to pull the trigger and step into the "real world" of digital surround sound. ~ peace

I came from the 2070, due to a few more upgrades. Was waiting and waiting for this. I could not be more happy with my purchase. As well as the quality Yamaha continues to pump out. I actually tried a few other brands in between the wait, nothing compares. And the Yamaha remote app is the best on the market. Sound quality is worth every penny!

Born from Engineering Performance. Our flagship 9.2-channel (11.2-ch processing) AV receiver was bred for versatility and engineering performance with two ESS SABRE DACs (one ES9007S and one ES9026PRO), seven HDMI inputs, three HDMI outputs, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, Multi-Zone functionality, Phono input, Wi-Fi, YPAO with Precision EQ and much more.
AVENTAGE
Craftsmanship in engineering design. The AVENTAGE line of high-performance AV receivers is based on the audio design concept of providing a massive, full-bodied sound for movie sound effects and the accurate reproduction of music sources. By expertly harmonizing traditional and advanced technologies, every factor that affects sound quality, from materials and parts to construction, layout, vibration damping (unique foot) and "fine-tuning" the sound, is handled with no other thought than to achieve the best possible audio quality.
As a result, every AVENTAGE model has the ability to reproduce the most subtle details of high-definition sound, so that listeners can enjoy a truly high-class sound studio experience at home.
Total Purity Concept
Sound quality finessed. The Total Purity Concept, which has been cultivating in-house for many years, encompasses high drive amp technology, high purity preamplification, anti-vibration technology and independent pure power supplies. All models have fully discrete power amplifiers that help minimize distortion. They also adopt pure independent power supplies, allowing dedicated power supplies for the analog and digital circuitry to prevent digital noise from affecting analog circuitry.
The anti-vibration heat sinks are designed to suppress vibration from transistors and sound pressure. Independent power supplies for the DACs are designed to further eliminate noise on certain models. Down to every detail, these AV receivers are designed with full emphasis on the highest possible sound quality.
High Quality Parts
The whole is greater than the sum. Every single part in an AV receiver affects the sound quality. For AVENTAGE models, extra time is taken to find (or develop) the exact parts needed to achieve the highest performance possible. Sound technicians go through a testing process to, in effect, "tune" the receiver's sound.
Anti-Resonance Technology
A firm foundation. The Anti-Resonance Technology Wedge is a fifth foot in the center of the unit. It dampens vibrations from the power transformer, power transistors and heat sinks, as well as vibrations that might be caused by the sound from the speakers.
Advanced Foundational Design
A foot fetish. The feet of the receiver feature a newly designed, high-density structure which utilizes two different kinds of interior ribs - straight and curved - to enhance strength and damping performance. Installation stability is improved and chassis resonance is dispersed, effectively eliminating external vibration. The low-range response is enhanced, while resonance peaks in the mid- and high-range are reduced, providing dynamic sound and accurate reproduction.
Aluminum Front Panel
Shielded from noise. All of the AVENTAGE components feature the same sleek, clean design, with an elegant aluminum front panel and silky touch volume/selector knobs. The aluminum front panel is used to effectively shield sensitive circuitry from external noise and electronic radiation generated by dimmer switches, fluorescent lighting, video monitors and so on. This ensures optimum sonic performance in the widest range of installation environments.
Symmetrical Power Amplifier
Designed to the details. The interior of the unit has been precisely planned, circuit-routed and built so that the left and right channels are physically and electrically isolated. This naturally maximizes channel separation but also greatly improves signal to noise ratio and also helps to achieve a wide open sound stage for a superior receiver.
H-shaped Frame
Reinforced for rigidity. The interior of the receiver is reinforced with cross members in an H shape to provide an extremely rigid and stable frame. This reduces chassis vibration to virtually zero even during high volume output (seemingly minor vibrations can affect the sound), maintaining the highest audio quality.
XLR Inputs
Balanced audio. The receiver comes equipped with XLR balanced audio input/output terminals. In combination with a Blu-ray Disc player such as our BD-A1060 or CD player such as our CD-S3000 / S2100 equipped with balanced output terminals, this enables high-quality signal transmission with reduced degradation of sound quality due to external noise. The balanced input terminals feature gold-plated connections produced by Neutrik, a company with a long history of experience working with Yamaha mixing consoles.
ESS SABRE PRO ES9026PRO Ultra DAC and SABRE ES9007S DAC
State of the art. Our flagship model features ESS's state of the art 32-bit SABRE DACs. ESS's patented 32-bit Hyper Stream, Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) compensation function works to minimize noise levels. In combination with the Yamaha original D.O.P.G. (DAC On Pure Ground) concept, which eliminates the potential difference between audio circuit stages to reduce ground noise, it dramatically enhances silence and resolution over the entire audio range for rich and expressive reproduction of even the most delicate sounds.
Surround:AI
Intelligent Surround. This AI technology built into the DSP analyzes the scene of your entertainment content and creates an optimal surround effect to reproduce it with the greatest effect. In real time, this AI instantaneously analyzes scenes by focusing on distinct sound elements such as dialogue, background music, ambient sounds and sound effects and automatically optimizes the surround effect. The effect is a compelling sense of realism beyond conventional sound field effects, giving you the best of every scene in an entertainment experience.
Full 4K: 4K Ultra HD HDMI Support
Providing complete compatibility with the latest HDMI standards, this AV receiver delivers transmission of 4K video at 60 frames/second pass-through. It also supports HDR (high dynamic range) video including Dolby Vision and Hybrid Log-Gamma. This provides incredible contrast, smooth tone and rich, bright colors-giving you full, high-definition enjoyment with an exceptionally realistic and natural picture quality.
Three-way Output: Three HDMI Outputs
With three HDMI output terminals, you can simultaneously connection to the TV, LCD projector and other devices to watch two separate video sources at the same time. Or broadcast the same video source like a ball game across all outputs.
Switch-hit: HDMI Zone Switching
You can transmit video or audio content to a TV or home theater system in another room (Zone 2) via HDMI. This lets you enjoy viewing and listening to the same main room content (where the AV receiver is installed) or even different content.
Stream Simply: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and AirPlay Compatible
Built-in Wi-Fi allows for a connection with your wireless router, greatly simplifying system connections for music streaming or enjoying networked audio (PC/NAS). Bluetooth connectivity is also included for streaming from Bluetooth devices to your receiver.
New Heights in Sound: Dolby Atmos and DTS:X Playback with CINEMA DSP HD3
Compatibility with these amazing sound technologies creates an extraordinary experience. They deliver breathtakingly rich and realistic surround sound, positioning and moving individual sounds to any virtual point in your room, including objects moving overhead. The revamped CINEMA DSP HD3 features new signal processing algorithms and three sets of high performance processors. Experience the overwhelming realistic movement and immersion in videos - right in your home.
Even More Power: 11.2-Channel Pre-outs
Add an external power amplifier (pre-main amplifier) to this AV receiver to improve and enhance the sound of your speakers. By using a power amplifier to drive the important front channels in home theater, this added power supports your system with an emphasis on sound quality.
Wire Less: Wireless Surround Speakers
Combine this AV receiver with the upcoming MusicCast 50 or MusicCast 20 wireless speakers and enjoy the convenience of creating a home theater with wireless surround speakers in 5.1-ch. Get stunningly realistic sound with a clean, clutter-free setup and turn your current living room into an entertainment environment where you can fully enjoy movies and music.
