I would buy the RX-A660 again, for sure!

This drives our main home theater. We are hearing sounds in songs and movies that we've never heard before. GREAT surround settings. Super easy to set up.

Thanks, Yamaha! Still a fan.

My first move into home theater, and this unit lives up to my expectations. Previously ran stereo TV and components thru my Yamaha A-1000 integrated amp, which I purchased in 1982. After 35 years the A-1000 developed some static in the output, so I found myself in the market for an AVR. I knew I wanted Yamaha, but currently have a tight budget. Found this unit on sale and decided to give it a try. Glad I did. Not quite the audiophile clarity of the A-1000, but so very close, especially for the sale price. Thanks, Yamaha, still a fan!

Great Performer

Just upgraded from an old 1980's vintage receiver. The Yamaha has more bells and whistles than a fire truck! I'll probably never use half of them, but that's OK because it performs magnificently. I mainly use it for listening to classical music (CDs and vinyls), and also for BluRay movies. Combined with my good speakers and a new active subwoofer, the sound is fantastic.

Solid so far!

I purchased this Yamaha system when my Marantz went out after two years of use ... which replaced a Denon system that went out after three years of use. I wanted something "high end" (e.g., we have a 50' HDMI cable from our receiver/amplifier to our TV, with Klipsch and Bowers & Wilkins speakers hidden away, functioning with a Logitech Harmony One) - and I would NOT have thought about the Yamaha. The BB Magnolia guy knew what he was talking about, told me he'd never seen a Yamaha system come back with a defect, and that I would be surprised. I was. It's great -- SO FAR. I just set it up 10 days ago and I like everything except the way the audio selections appear on the TV. It's simply hard to see and about half as many as my Marantz has. That said, the Marantz died. I hope this will be a winner for years to come.

Wow !!!

I love this AVR. Amazing capabilities. The issue is learning to set up and use it's capabilities. Manual is 130 pages and I'm only about half way thru it. I'm coming from 1970's technologies and have new TV, AVR, and speaker system to debug all at once and it is a handful. I'm not too hot on the manual but I'm learning to use it. Very frustrating at times. For example, every time I turn on the AVR/TV the volume comes up very low and needs to be adjusted - in a month I haven't found out how to correct this. Also, streaming services don't seem to pass audio thru the AVR and must use TV speakers, again after a month and I haven't found out how to correct this. Manual writing requires some real specific skills and Yamaha falls a little short in this area. But this AVR really rocks, I'll get thru the manual, eventually. Then, if necessary I'll call Yamaha for some specific help. These issues are the reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5.

Great Receiver

I upgrade my older Yamaha receiver. Since I had the same conections and HDMI wires it was easy to switch out the receivers. The only problem is when first powering it up i get no sound from my TV (hooked up to HDMI2). I have to first push HDMI 3 then back to HDMI 2 in order to get the sound from my TV.

Very nice receiver

Replaced a dead receiver. First Yamaha receiver and the quality is first rate. Easy to setup using on screen menu or the iOS app. Using a 7 speaker, 1 subwoofer setup and there is plenty of power to rock the house.

Very nice product

The price was a bit higher than some other options but the features and performance are very good. I wanted just the basic features and this has them and more (even if I will never use them). This unit works well with my other TV equipment. It was fast and easy to setup and did not require any adjustments to the sound after setup.

Lifelong Yamaha Customer

I have been a Yamaha customer so this was a no brainer in terms of why I chose this product. It replaced a 20 year old Yamaha receiver that was out of date. It took some time setting up, but once I printed out a user manual I was up and running in a few hours. Really like the set-up microphone which took the guess work out of how to manage the speaker set-up. This unit has all the bells and whistles that I need and highly recommend this product. It really exceeded my expectations. Cons: Had to go out to the Web to find a PDF file for detailed set-up of unit.
