For whatever reason this seems to be one of the very few models that will not sync up with my DirecTV remote control. It's a definite disappointment but not enough reason to send it back

Great Sound but lousy connectivity

The equipment seems to work fine. My biggest gripe is the Required Music Cast software. I am sure I am in the minority but the last thing I want to do is have another public awareness of one of my habits and whatever other information Yamaha and others can glean about our lives. Those that use this service run an unforeseeable risk. Additionally I had Pandora on my Onkyo (deceased) and it did not require a third party software to be downloaded onto your phone. Intrusive at best plus annoying. Yamaha should require a work around for Pandora. It may be OK for those services you are willing to pay for but Pandora is free. Reading the material it seems that Yamaha forces you to download a software program that some may regret later. Must be another, better way to access Pandora!
Next was the set up. When you are instructed to first turn on the equipment who knew you got one easy shot (if you knew what you were doing) to set up your internet connection. Miss that and you cannot go back. Just one time. Later on I did some exploring and did find another area in the set up to select the type of W-Fi I was using and it took about 5-6 tries to finally get it right. I recommend Yamaha give folks some warning ahead of time. Miss the boat? No second chances.

Intrusive and difficult to set up if you're not prepared

I'm entering the world of modern receivers from another high end brand of the early 2000s. I wasn't sure what my listening experience would be. But this new unit has really opened my eyes to the realm of possibilities for modern electronics. I'm particularly fond of the network abilities and audio streaming. Sound is clean and crisp. Menus are easy to navigate once the online manual is obtained which has more detail than the printed manual it comes with. I only wish the MusicCast app actually shows the full menu options.

Full feature receiver with fine tuning capabilities

Nothing works--no support. Owner's manual disk won't boot up on my mac. With HDMI connected as described in the guide that came with the amp., no image on the the tv. With internet cable plugged into the amp., no network radio.
