Excellent sound, super easy set up. I don't understand other reviewers complaining about connectivity. I had no issues at all. The manual gives clear instructions on how to set them up. Bought two WX-030s for my kitchen and set them up in 5 min. They work flawlessly with the MusicCast app or with AirPlay. They produce beautiful clear sound that fills the room. The BIG PLUS, if you buy a pair, is the ability to set them up in stereo mode if you stream through MusicCast. Not sure whether you can do that with other wireless speakers. In my opinion they have better sound than comparable models from Sonos or Bose. You can adjust high/mid/lows through the MusicCast app. Highly recommended! Excellent job Yamaha!

Impressive bass and clean sound from a small unit. After comparing with WX-010 definitely recommend the WX-030. For a few dollars more you get metal grill and much more bass. The white unit has an attractive pearl-like finish that looks clean and modern. Drawback is the controls are hard to distinguish and take a little practice to adjust. Overall very happy with it.

This speaker provide a very nice sound despite its reduced dimensions, and thanks to its connectivity features it's very easy to stream music from internet radio, streaming services or, in my case, personal library from a network storage device or mobile phone. I also use it with custom features i created thanks to the open API available, like playing messages about house status: garage door open/close, energy consumption over limit, aplliance jobs start/finish. This is the first Musiccast device i introduced in my house but surely i plan to add others for whole house coverage and maybe also for TV audio (soundbar or other accessories).

Sound quality is good. Wi-Fi reception is just OK. My laptop has better reception in the same location.

I have a 1000 sq ft basement speakers won't connect to all of the speakers that are 5 yards from each other. Nothing has worked since the start. They cut out and never sync up. I want to like this product but one year of pissing around with this has me wishing I never purchased this product. I have 4. I have great wifi. Frustrating.

Solid quality product, well done! Such a great sound quality on such a small unit and wireless to boot. Very impressive. Bought two and they work great either in concert with my Yamaha receiver or each by its own. Just note that if you run multiple units in different rooms you need high speed and high bandwidth wireless as well as use the "boost speed" setting (you give up a little quality but that's far better than if there's a noticeable lag between units). As other posts have noted, add a battery to this unit, make it splash proof and you've probably made the best versatile little sound product on the market! Great price too!

I can write almost a book, but why bother. Hands down one of the best in the industry. Serious power that will rock and rival any home theater. A true gem to be admired and heard. I have this paired with the MX A 5000. 11.2 surround running Dolby Atmos when available of course and to describe it as visually as possible, during TRANSFORMERS, you feel you are in the middle of it all. It is time consuming, but tuning it makes a difference and will blow you away. Expensive, but you get what you pay for. Don't skimp on the speakers either. I have Polk Audio RTi A9 with supplement high end Polks all around. The only thing not Polk is my two powered 10 inch subs which are made by KRK.

This little speaker packs a great sound in a small footprint with some great color options. I needed some sound in a lower level where speaker wires were not possible. This speaker easily connected to my Yamaha A/V receiver through my AirTunes wireless network. I love the fact that it's essentially in an always-ready mode, I.e., no on/off is engaged. I simply connect the speaker through AirTunes and it plays. Yeah! Simplicity! I wish this had more portability (battery operated option) for moving it around but other than this distraction of always being tethered to an electrical outlet, this speaker rocks. It's so good, I only needed one speaker, not two in the lower level.

The CX A5100 is outstanding, comparing favorably with much more expensive processors. I purchased it to replace a Marantz 7702 mkII which in turn replaced an Onkyo 5509. I will stick with the Yamaha for many years. I use the Yamaha for listening to classical music and jazz, for watching broadcast and cable television and for enjoy the android apps on my year old Sony 930c smart television. The multiplicity of sound and video fields of the Yamaha provide me with an extraordinary range of choices to control whatever source I am enjoying--superior in my view to any of the processors mentioned above. Indeed, sometimes the number of choices is a bit overwhelming but as I worked with it, I found new dimensions of listening that I had not experienced previously. The Yamaha's chip set gives power and clarity to music reproduction and to the spoken word that sets this product apart. The clarity of the spoken word is particularly impressive. As for music reproduction, critical for me, it gives my Oppo 105 the kind of companion it has needed to perform at its best. My extensive SACD collection has never sounded better. Some friends told me that the Marantz is better for music reproduction than the Yamaha, and described music played through the Yamaha as somewhat "off" or strangely different from what they are accustomed to. I have not found these comments to be true and in fact, are quite the opposite of my listening experience. My choice for the Yamaha came after I compared it with the Marantz 8802a. Music just sounded better on the Yamaha. The Yamaha has an impressive solid chassis that is designed to resist vibration. When I characterize it as heavy metal, I'm not referring to a genre of music. The CX A5100 is comparable in heft to my amp--an ATI 3000. Of course I upgraded in part to the Yamaha (and to the Marantz before that) in order to enjoy 4k television and HDR both requiring new standards that Ultra High Def TV provides. The Yamaha delivers as advertised. I gave the Yamaha four, not five stars because it did not include a printed manual. Gutenberg still lives and even in this digital age, having a bound, printed manual at your fingertips is far better than any manual printed off the internet, especially when you are setting up and learning a new product. I will not give any product five stars that doesn't provide a conventional printed manual. I can't understand why great companies like Yamaha, Sony and Marantz don't provide printed manuals. Certainly we are paying enough for their products. And this brings me to my last comment. The setting up of the Yamaha is daunting--it requires as others have pointed out diligent application and patience to get it right. I am still working on getting it right after owning the product for several weeks. If you are a "one button on and off does it all person", don't bother with the Yamaha. If, however, you are wiling to apply yourself, your listening and viewing rewards will be great. Here, especially in the setting up of the CX A5100, a bound, printed manual would have been worth its weight in paper and ink.

My main stereo (a Yamaha RX-A850) is in the living room, but when I have friends over we often hang out in the kitchen/dining room area. I got the WX-030 to bring the music closer. I'm really happy with it so far. I can play music from any source (internet radio, CDs, phono, etc.) and it sounds great playing either digital or analog sources. Using the MusicCast app I can control the volume and equalizer of either the main stereo or WX-630 together or independently to get any balance and sound setting I want. When I originally got the speaker there was a slight delay in the sound when I would play sources not associated with the MusicCast app but with the most recent updates to the app I can use a feature called "Audio Sync" when I link my stereo and WX-030, and the sound on the speaker is completely synchronized no matter what source I play. Love it!

I would like to use this product everyday BUT since the wireless connectivity is not reliable (even after several firmware update), I am not able to use it anymore. I am really frustrated as I think that this was on the commercial brochure the best product in the market. I reached multiple time the customer center and they were supposed to find me a solution BUT since January 2016 they do not reply anymore to my emails. So as a consequence, I use my most simple and portable Bose system!!! Worst Customer Care Center I have ever seen!

The speakers disconnect from the application and need to be unplugged to stop playing. They will also keep playing if the application is swiped off. More often than not, we need to go through the setup process to start. They sound great when they are working, but it has been a very frustrating experience. I do not know why they do not work and have not figured out what I do to get them working again. We were excited to show them off at a party and could not get them to work at all.

I moved up from the first generation Aventage, the RX-A3000. This is a big improvement in the GUI, the sound quality, the Wifi, Blue Tooth, DSPs and the ability to upgrade the software is much easier. This is my first separates. I also have the matching amp, the MX-A5000. So far, this has been an easy transition from the RX-A3000. A lot of familiar things yet a lot of improvements at the same time. My only suggestion for improvement is to improve the room acoustic tuning software, YPAO, to better interface with my sub when setting the speaker levels and sizes with my sub. I Have an old SVS PB12 plus/2 which is still going strong with upgraded woofers. The YPAO was able to set the speaker levels correctly. But set them all to large. It recognized the sub. Why it did not set the speakers to small and set the crossover frequencies is beyond me. I had to go in and manually make the speakers small and set the appropriate crossover frequencies. My previous receiver had the same problem. But this version of YPAO is much improved in the 5100 giving you better room correction error trouble shooting info. Other than that this is the perfect unit for me and probably my last upgrade for quite awhile.

The speaker is high quality and great sounding. I purchased it to work with my new Yamaha MusicCast Receiver. It took me awhile to learn how to use it but, if you have a problem Yamaha has an excellent technical department that can help. You will need a smart phone or computer to control the speaker when using it with the new Yamaha MusicCast receivers.

This product is really amazing. Once you combined with the MX-A5000 you have a very powerful home theater system. The combination of Dolby Atmos and this receivers will fill the room with multidimensional sound that makes you feel as if you are right in the middle of the story unfolding on the screen. Easy to setup and configure. YPAO microphone does the calibration right for my speakers setting and atmos setting. My whole home theater is full of sounds. This product is totally really good in music especially these classical music and instrumental you feel like someone is performing live on your home.Don't use this in horror movies, because of the sounds it will totally really scared you. My wife just keep shouting every time we watched horror movies. Can't wait for the dtsX.

Great Sound; best of all compared to others; the only issue is that sometimes the wifi gets "lost" so have to reconnect it to the master loudspeakers in the other room; + the wifi could be somewhat better. But in General great.

Thoughts About The YAMAHA CX-A5100 11 November 2015 I received my new CX-A5100 a week ago. I upgraded it from the YAMAHA CX-A5000. I had been very satisfied with the CX-A5000 except for one significant problem. That problem was that the CX-A5000 did not support the new HDCP 2.2 standard which is necessary to support HDMI pass through and switching of content stored on the hopefully soon to be available UHD Blu Ray Disks and Players. I had originally purchased the CX-A5000 based on the belief and advertised features of the CX-A5000 that it could support pass through of content from UHD Blu Ray Disks. One big black mark should be assessed to YAMAHA for this misleading information and the fact that they did absolutely nothing to assist customers like me who bought CX-A5000 units in good faith. I have been very satisfied with the CX-A5100 so far in every feature but one. The CX-A5100 is very similar to the CX-A5000 which I truly enjoyed. The CX-A5100 has a significant upgrade in the DACs which allows the CX-A5100 to play music stored in almost any electronic format including High Resolution Audio. I also own a Sony HAP-Z1ES which is how I have been playing High Resolution Audio files and ripped CDs. The playback of the CX-A5100 over the CX-A5000 is so improved that I cannot tell the difference in music processed through the DACs in the CX-A5100 and music passed through the DACs in the Sony HAP-Z1ES and delivered via XLR analog to the CX-A5100. The CX-A5100 can also read all the ripped CDs and High Resolution files I have stored on my Network Attached Server without going through the hassle of uploading them to the hard drive of the SONY HAP-Z1ES. It would seem logical that I would no longer need the SONY HAP-Z1ES but unfortunately that is not the case because the user interface for this function supplied with the CX-A5100 is so poor. I have experience with 3 user interfaces for retrieving music stored on a network server. These three are the YAMAHA CX-A5100 interface, the SONOS interface, and the SONY HAP-Z1ES. I would rate the SONY interface to be far and away the best user interface. The SONOS interface is nowhere near as good as the SONY but it is functional. The YAMAHA interface is easily the worst. The YAMAHA interface is the only one that does not provide any kind of search function. Since I have approximately 800 CDs worth of material stored on my NAS this is essential to easily finding the music I want to play. The YAMAHA is also the only one that provides only the file name with no additional information when you use it. Once the album or track is selected in the YAMAHA interface you do see the album art which helps you identify exactly what the music you have selected is, but both SONOS and SONY give you more information than simply the title of the file while searching. Although I know the title and track names for some of my favorite artists, for many items I need a memory jog to identify what the music is. The YAMAHA basically gives me two views one is album by name of album, and artist name. When you select the artist name, the YAMAHA gives all tracks by that artist and does not sort them by album. This severely limits the utility of a lookup by artist. YAMAHA needs to do some major work upgrading the user interface to network attached servers to make this function usable. In my opinion YAMAHA could learn a lot simply by having their engineers look at the SONY user interface. The CX-A5100 does have another feature that I do like over the SONY HAP-Z1ES. That feature is a display on the TV screen of information on the music currently being played. This is important to me because my tablet goes to sleep after a relatively short time and has to be awakened to see what is currently playing on the SONY HAP-Z1ES which has no interface to the TV. The screen on the SONY does not shut down, but it is so small and far away that you can see nothing on it. The SONY also has a problem with duplicated files. My server includes files from three i-tunes libraries and sometimes an album or track is duplicated between these libraries. SONOS can deal with this quite easily. The SONY HAP-Z1ES does not deal well with this problem. YAMAHA needs to ensure that their software ignores duplicates. One additional feature I would like YAMAHA to add is the ability to play 5.1 surround files from the network server. I find that a properly mixed 5.1 surround sound music track sounds far better than a two channel representation of the recording. I almost always listen to music with the 11 channel expander active when using the SONY HAP-Z1ES as this gives a much better sound than the straight two channel recording. I do not currently have any 5.1 surround music downloads, but this is definitely something I am interested in exploring in the future. I have compared DVD Audio and SACD recordings in 5.1 to two channel with the expander and find that the actual 5.1 mix usually sounds better than stereo run through the expander. In summary, the CX-A5100 is an outstanding pre-amplifier and does an exceptional job in most ways. If YAMAHA were to expand to 5.1 Surround support from the Network Attached Server and improve the user interface to the Network Attached Server, it would be hard to find any serious flaws with this product. Thanks to the new DACs the CX-A5100 is fully capable from a hardware perspective of making my SONY HAP-Z1ES useless. I will be keeping the SONY because the user interface is so far ahead of what the YAMAHA offers. I think it is likely that YAMAHA could fix the user interface simply through updates to the firmware and the android app used to control the CX-A5100. Again the CX-A5100 is a superb product and I think I will be very happy with it in spite of the flaws in the NAS functionality of the product.

Quality of product. The separation of left and right channels. Sound is superb! Video picture has been upgraded on Plasma HD Television. Would like a paper manual rather than a disc. Do not own a laptop. Have two desktops. Remote has no backlight and is hard to read. Buttons on remote need to be more distinctive. Otherwise, a wonderful product. Worth the investment.

Great sound quality especially given its size; it easily surpasses all of its competitors. It took me a few tries to get the WiFi set up, but once I did, the app works seamlessly. This was exactly what I was looking for as a simple, inexpensive but high quality all-in-one stereo.

I purchased this pre-amp to replace my previous RX-A3000 with external power amps. Sonically, there is quite a step up in sound clarity and quality. Everything sounds better and I can now overlay Cinema DSP with Dolby Atmos and soon to be DTS-X. The cons are minor when you consider what you are getting. The Dolby Surround Upsampler (DSU) is useful and can improve the listening experience for some material. It would be great if future firmware updates would allow DSU and DTS Neural (when released) to used with Cinema DSP, to complement existing PLIIx and Neo6 options.
