Yamaha YAS-203 Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer

I replaced my Sony Sound bar with this Yamaha YAS-203 because the Sony was okay but not enough to fill my living room and the Sony wireless subwoofer was very weak. I saw the YAS-203 on sale and decided to replace my Sony Soundbar and match my Yamaha RX-A1030 receiver. The YAS-203 does not communicate better between my Sony 65" 4K TV which was expected, since the Sony TV recognized the Sony Soundbar. Also the YAS-203 does not have a hdmi connection which would make it really easy to use the ARC connection. However, I was able to use the LEARN function and tied my TV remote and AppleTV 4K remote to the YAS-203. Programming the remote was easy and the instructions were clear and detailed. Currently, I am moving the YAS-203 subwoofer to different locations around the living room and the soundbar is able to find it. I love the Bluetooth function as well. Connecting my iphone 7 to the YAS-203 was quick and easy and the sound is pretty good. The HT (Home Theater) Yamaha app works very well. It only shows you what type of functions that the YAS-203 can handle. If you buy a more expensive Yamaha soundbar, you would have move functions tied to the app. I like using the app so I don't have to use the YAS-203 remote, but the remote is very easy to use if you choose not to download the app. The optical connection serve it's purpose with Dolby "surround" sound but if I want true surround sound, I would switch to my RX-A1030.

Very easy wall installation and operations are very user friendly. Remote is small and simple but covers everything. Has some great features and the product is impressive for the price!

This product replaced a Yamaha surround sound system. It takes up less room and a lot less wires but still sounds awesome!!

The sound that comes out of this is terrible. Very muffled. Not rich and deep, but cheap and shallow. The sound out of this bar is worse than my old TV. Very disappointed.

I purchased the Sharp HT-SB602, 310 Watt Sound Bar. Reading the adds and reviews it looked pretty good. Unfortunately, when it arrived, the sound was terrible. I looked up the distortion and believe it or not, the unit was read for 10% THD. I had never heard of a consumer speaker and amp system rated at 10% but after listening to it, I believe that such a system does exist. I requested to return the Sharp which was granted, as long as I paid the return freight. That cost me $90 shipping the cheapest way. As the Sharp left, I received my Yamaha, complete with a 30day money back guarantee. I wouldn't let it go for anything. What I expected from Sharp, I received from Yamaha. The YAS-203 filled in all my requirements for great sound and great looks at a very reasonable price. I love it and have since purchased a Yamaha AV receiver for another room and a YamahaYST-SW012 Sub-woofer. I could not be happier.

I am using this for a bedroom television. The subwoofer is a overkill, but the controls allow you to set the volume for the sounder and the sub separately, so that's good. We use this at moderate volumes and the sound is clear and detailed. You can set it so that the voices are a bit more out front in the mix, which we also appreciate.

The unit has really good sound and the subwoofer fills out the lower end for great sounding music from Bluetooth phone. The only issue is the TV remote learning function does not seem to work for me. It's not really a problem because my Logitech Harmony knows the Yamaha codes, so that's how I use it.

Used for TV and Bluetooth to phones. Sound is great with surround coming in from all angles. No overpowering bass. remote is easy to use and includes all functionality. Well done, Yamaha.

This is our first sound bar. Did a lot of research and this one was highly recommended. Glad we selected it. Good sound and very easy installation. Everything we needed was included. Love the clear voice function.

I do not like that there is a limit to the loudness. I understand that some people would ruin their speakers out of their own stupidity. However, that is no reason to control the level of sound for everyone. There has been times the sound would have been most excellent if it could go louder. Instead, having a cap on the volume seems very unfair!!!

We're very happy with our new Yamaha sound bar. The performance has been great, a real improvement on our prior system. The only negative it cite is that the instructions for setting up the universal remote were unclear in one section.

Purchased to add audio enhancement to our TV viewing. Easy, plug-n-play. I think it's the best product in it's price category. Bluetooth allows me to stream music from my Android with any app.

Did my research before making this purchase and the Yamaha yas-203 most definitely meets up to it's positive reviews. For the price you get a very decent sound bar and subwoofer with adequate base and a high quality of range. This makes your movie watching experience far more enjoyable, with the only thing missing being the $12 popcorn, and the $9 coke :)
