Newly sampled for the YDP-164, the Yamaha flagship 9' CFX concert grand piano offers sparkling highs and a powerful resonant bass combined in a sound that projects to the furthest reaches of any concert hall. The CFX was played by the winner of the prestigious International Chopin Competition in 2010 and has since gained recognition as one of the greatest concert grands of modern times.

Authentic acoustic piano playability
With an 88-key piano action and synthetic ivory and ebony keys, the Graded Hammer 3 (GH3) keyboard reproduces the touch of an acoustic piano, from the heavy feel in the lower register to a lighter touch in the upper octaves. The GH3 features a three-sensor configuration that accurately senses and interprets the behavior of the keyboard to provide a grand piano-style response and feel, allowing rapid note repetition and authentic expressive control.

Play your favorite songs
Smart Pianist scans the audio songs loaded in your Music Library, analyzes the chord progressions and then displays them for you on the screen of your smart device. Play along as the chords scroll by all the while hearing the song play back through your instrument's speaker system. Loading MIDI songs into the app will allow you to follow along with digital sheet music while you play.

Have you ever tried to figure out what the chords are to your favorite songs? Smart Pianist app for iPhone/iPod touch/iPad helps you practice and perform songs by analyzing the audio song stored in your iOS device and then displays the chord symbols for you. And also Smart Pianist allows you to control the many functions included in the piano with your iOS device, for even easier operation.

Intuitive Controls
In addition to selecting piano Voices, you can use the Layer function to overlay Voices or the Split function to play different Voices with the left and right hands. A range of functions such as Transpose, Tuning, Pedal and acoustic settings can be configured easily and intuitively from the touch screen.

Play along with your favorite songs by following the chords
Smart Pianist analyzes the songs in your music library and displays the chord symbols so that you can play along with your favorite tunes.

Recommended songs for the Chord Chart feature
The Chord Chart feature of the Smart Pianist app does a great job analyzing tens of thousands of songs. However some songs, especially those that are more harmonically complex or less harmonically defined, are not as well suited for the Chord Chart analysis.

We have analyzed a number of popular song titles to give you an idea of what type of music tends to get the best results so that you can get the best experience with this innovative feature. If you like these songs or artists, then it's likely that other songs like these, by these or similar artists, will also achieve good results with Chord Chart.

Using Smart Pianist with the YDP-164
• Check that the YDP-164 instrument is using firmware is V2.0 or above
• Connect the instrument to an iOS device running the Smart Pianist app V2.0 using one of the following methods:

Connect using a cable
An Apple Lightning - USB Camera Adapter and a USB cable (sold separately) are required. Connect the USB cable to the USB TO HOST port on the instrument.

Connect wirelessly using Wi-Fi
The UD-WL01 (sold separately) must be purchased to use a wireless connection. Connect the UD-WL01 to the USB TO DEVICE port on the instrument.
