This subwoofer replaced an older JBL, which was much larger in size. It performs better than the JBL ever did.

Set this sub up using the YPAO feature in the RX-A1060. Blends in with the other speakers in the AV room very well. Has a great sound and accurately reproduces not only the LFE in a movie but also the low end in music. Another quality Yamaha product.

I just wanted something simple that would fit in my living room to work with my smart TV for movies and music. This fit the bill well, and the base is perfect for a moderately sized living room with surround sound. Happy with the product.

We've been without a subwoofer for awhile. This is much more compact & seems to be doing the job. Haven't tried changing any volume etc. Not really savvy about Audio tech. This Yamaha was not a lot of $$ because of the fact we use it exclusively for TV. Once in awhile play the radio thru the receiver, but seldom. We're satisfied at this point.

Great Buy for the money ! ONLY drawback is the ON/OFF switch location in the back of unit. A 'remote' would be nice or an 'on light' indicator on front of product would be beneficial. Overall, great product, great value, great sound !!!! Definite recommendation to purchase !!!

I use this subwoofer with a basic Yamaha R-S201 stereo receiver. The subwoofer has the inputs for your standard (old-fashion) stereo speaker wires and output to your bookshelf or other stereo speakers. This subwoofer is very powerful and the controls for bass response and volume are very good.

Great boom for the buck! Purchased to go with my new Yamaha RX-V475BL AV receiver and bookshelf speakers (Klipsch). Puts out a great sound to fill in the gaps below 100 Hz. Volume control gives you as little or as much bass as you want.

Sound bar should have a 110v outlet to power the subwoofer. Then it would only be on when the bar is used

Great piece. Has the looks and the guts of subwoofers twice its price. I have a A/V store and sell them like hot cakes. In fact, I believe Yamaha has the best user friendly lineup in the business. Keep it up!!

This unit is part of my home theater system and works great with some fairly large/expensive floor standing Infinity Speakers and Yamaha receiver. My old subwoofer broke after 10 years, so this was a perfect replacement at 1/2 the price of my prior subwoofer. If you do side-by-side comparisons with other more expensive subwoofers you will hear the difference. Definitely a BUY.

I use this with a Yamaha 673 and it works great. The bass is there when it is supposed to be. no noise even at higher volumes. Can rattle the windows if you choose to do that.

Great sound and puts a surprising amount of bass! Best sounding sub in the price range and even beat several that cost more. Perfect fit for an affordable surround sound set up.

The power off/on switch is in an odd place. If you move it up to the top or just trade places between it and the volume control things would be better, because off and on are usually used far more often than changing the volume on a sub-woofer. This subwoofer has good clean sound. It is a very worthwhile addition, and the price is just right, making this an incredible value.

Two words...."really good"! Added this as a mid-bass subwoofer to my home theater. I have three subs dedicated to frequencies 90hz and below. This speaker sounds really good in the "high cut frequency mode". Fills in the imaging gap between 100hz - 200hz that book shelf speakers can't consistently reproduce. With no phasing option, had to tweek the crossover on a/v a bit but well worth it. Yamaha keep up the good work!

I'm using as mixing, and monitor set up for a home recording studio. Has great sound, plenty of bass, I'd buy it again for sure.

I use several subs in my home theater system. One of them recently failed, so I went shopping. After looking at several brands, I concluded that the Yamaha offered the best performance for the best price. I already owned two Yamaha subs, and had found that they "punch above their weight" as far as performance is concerned. The only criticism that I have of this unit is that it does not have a stand-by mode, so that I have to switch it on and off whenever I use it, which is not a big issue.

I wanted to add bass to my basement system, a nice sounding low-powered Sherwood receiver with Mirage towers, which just didn't kick the lows while sitting on the concrete floor. This sub did the trick, at a low cost, and with clean, tight bass. Very impressed with the sound. I can easily tailor it to any style of music I want to listen to, though it doesn't need much fussing with. I listen to all types of music, from classical to dub step and this sub handles it all with aplomb. You can't get much better bass with this size driver than the Yamaha delivers. I'm going to get another one so I can run one on each channel. I'd recommend it for just about anyone.

You have to spend some time to adjust the settings with the subwoofer. The thing will blast you out of the room at max. Once adjusted(which takes some time) you get a GREAT sounding system.

Bought to use in my bedroom in conjunction with my 42" LCD HDTV, Hi-Def cable box, XBox 360, and BluRay Disc Player that make up my bedrooms' entertainment system(s). I have full surround 5.1 set up and it absolutely blows me away with the sound quality, the bass response, the surround effects and over all performance. Easy to integrate with all other components and sounds amazing! Thanks so much for a great product....

I got this back in 2/4/2008 for only [$] at [@] to go with my HTR-5890 receiver. Once you have played with the settings with the receiver & subwoofer for awhile you get a good sounding unit.

Great boom for the buck! Purchased to go with my new Yamaha RX-V475BL AV receiver and bookshelf speakers (Klipsch). Puts out a great sound to fill in the gaps below 100 Hz. Volume control gives you as little or as much bass as you want.
Ideal for generating the tight, visceral bass that is so vital to the home theater experience, the Yamaha YST-SW216 10-inch, Performance Series, Powered Subwoofer will complement any system configuration. In conjunction with smaller, bookshelf-type speakers, it extends the system capability for true full-range frequency response.
With large, floor-standing speakers, the subwoofer helps shoulder the burden of reproducing low-frequency information. Port-tuned and slot loaded, it utilizes a 10" long-throw woofer and powerful 100W amplifier for room shaking reproduction, crushing power and quick, tight bass. Standard features include high and low cut filters and an input level control.
