I am getting great music and home theater experience. I am using this subwoofer with the Yamaha TSR 7790 receiver which made setup and choosing options for the subwoofer easy.

Just moved into a new house with built in surround in the ceiling. Have this hooked up with a Yamaha rx-v479 receiver. The sound is GREAT! Both for music and tv or movies. I was having issues getting the fm tuner to pick up local radio stations without me having to hold the antenna...until I just clipped an alligator jumper wire to the end of it. Problem solved. The sub does put out great deep rumbling base. I was worried it was gonna be too much for the room size but I was able to fine tune the volume with the controls on the sub and also with the volume control on the receiver.

This is an old-school subwoofer, Yamaha's top-of-the-line weighs 40+ lb. - all good stuff. Most of the subs in this price range are junk, this is not. It has a decently powerful amp designed specifically for the driver/enclosure combination, so Yamaha says. You can't argue with the results: good solid musical performance: "tight" bass, no overhang, not the one-note, thumpy kind. Seems to be reaching pretty deep. It can play reasonably loudly, but it starts to sound messy at high levels on movie LFE's. Best to use it in a "normal" home environment. The overall sound seems a little better pulled out into the room, rather than in the corner. OK if it's close to one wall. It integrated beautifully with my sister's Yamaha soundbar. One could purchase this plus some tasty mini-monitors and have an clean little 2.1 music system for a few hundred bucks. I think it would integrate well with any mains that go down to maybe around 50-60Hz. ITs OK for home theater if you listen at sane levels.

I love the sound quality of this sub. Matter of fact, I liked it so well that I bought a second one to add on. I use this in my bedroom/theater for mainly watching movies and listening to music. I'm really impressed with this sub. I don't think there is a better sounding sub for this price range. The front controls are nice. It allows you to use a standby mode, or simply use a the switch as an on/off. You can make volume etc, control conveniently from the front of the sub. I don't think there is a better buy than this sub and have no regrets with this purchase.

The unit looks good even though I have it hidden behind a couch. The bass response was much more than we expected. It was a great addition to our Yamaha home theater system.

I bought this unit to replace my 7 year old SW215. I have it connected to a Yamaha Aventage A720, and I use it for movies, music and video games (PS3). The bass that comes out of this sub is rich, deep and immersive. I can hear no distortion even at high volumes. The 10" down firing driver on this sub really delivers. I like the fact that you can fine tune the cross-over frequency, the volume and that it has two thresholds of stand-by power. It looks beautiful and it is very well built.

I purchased one for my living room which has an oblong shape. The subwoofer worked perfectly, delivering deep resonating bass.I was so impressed with it's performance,I bought another putting it on the other side of my living room.I connected them to my receiver per the instructions, and they work perfectly. The standby/on feature turns them on simultaneously, every time!I have known of Yamaha quality products for years and I was not disappointed!!I am also impressed with the piano finish, which matches any decor.

Incredible sound and response, unfortunately, you have to keep it turned up high so it doesn't lose connection.

I replaced a home theater woofer that was starting to make noises, (pops, static) when there was no bass freqs present. Tried to fix, no go. This Yamaha put that old one to shame! Why didn't I have this years ago? The bass sounds are powerful, but not overwhelming, clear and distinct, makes all booms, gunshots, and music sound like you are right there! The Yamaha has a non-intrusive design that hides itself when the lights are dimmed, but from the sounds, you know it is still there! It's like I am hearing some movies for the first time. I didn't know some of those sounds were there until I got my Yamaha. I am a sound engineer at our church. I purchased some stage monitors that were Yamaha. That convinced me of their build quality and sound quality. I was very happy to find this one for my home. You too will be happy with your Yamaha speakers of any kind. Thanks Yamaha!! Please keep up the good work because I will be back!

After installing I watched a movie and was really impressed with the sound affects. I couldn't move from my seat I was so involved with the sound. Bass was blowing me away. Increases movie enjoyment 10 times. The bass will have to be set up with the front controls, very easy. I only use two settings with both volume and frequency. For movies I use a higher volume and bass setting, and for music I set both lower. For best performance and incredible sound, Set up the bass just a little higher then the lowest frequency of your front main speakers. For example if your speakers are rated at the low of 38hz, set between 45 and 60. Use your ears for best results. It took me about 10 minutes. I love it. It sounds good at both low and high volumes. I'm just a regular person with high expectations on sound quality, with finical common sense. Shop around, take your time and you will enjoy for a very long time. Don't buy on impulse. I know its tempting, but, do you homework. I do recommend this sub and I'm very happy with the sound.

Ideal for generating the tight, visceral bass that is so critical to the home theater experience, the YSTSW315PN 10" Powered Subwoofer in Piano Black from Yamaha will complement any system configuration. In conjunction with smaller, bookshelf-type speakers, the YST-SW315PN extends the system resources for true full-range frequency response.
With your other Yamaha Home Theater speakers, this subwoofer helps shoulder the burden of reproducing low-frequency information. Port-tuned and slot loaded, it utilizes a long-throw 10" woofer and a powerful built-in amplifier for room shaking bass that still has a tight response. Standard features include high and low level inputs, variable level and frequency controls, phase control and auto on/off sensing
