I'm very happy with this receiver, which replaced a 15-year-old Pioneer that was showing intermittent signs of failure. My home theater setup is a 5.1 configuration, so this unit fit the bill perfectly. Tech has come a long way, obviously, and this Yamaha is illustrative of that, with many built-in listening modes and programs to choose from - almost too many choices. I found the configuration that works best for my listening needs, which primarily revolve around using the receiver as a sound system for watching cable and streaming TV shows and movies, and listening to audio files that I stream from my phone via Bluetooth, and generally I don't fool around and experiment. Setup was easy, YPAO seemed to fulfill its purpose identified a polarity problem with one of my speakers, too), I'm very pleased with both dramatically improved video processing and audio quality. I'd probably be happier had more "basic" controls been offered to fine-tune/equalize the sound, but I'm picking at nits. This does what I wanted it to do, it does it well, at a fair price.

Overall impression of this product is very good. Easy setup with only a couple of short calls to tech support. Runs much cooler than old system, more robust EQ options, remote is more intuitive, sleek design.

Looks sleek. Glad it can stream. Sound okay with my ELAC Debut v3.0s. Very limited and confusing controls on the receiver itself. Better controlled from my phone.

My unit worked fine for about 30 days then a board went out. It was beyond the return date of 30 days. I had to bring it into an authorized dealer for repair now I'm waiting three months for parts not happy with the system.

I really regret your company does not have a more readable, user friendly, user guide. The receiver does not bring an easy and quick user guide to use the device. I had to buy a user guide of more than 400 pages which I do not think I will ever, ever have time to read. This is RIDICOLOUS!!! On the meant time I've been able only to use the radio. Please be more reasonable with your thrusted customer to offer something more user friendly providing a more friendly user guide. I invest or wasted all this money in your receiver to only use part of it. What kind of business is this!!! I bought your brand after using another Yamaha receiver for more than 30 years to find out now something like this......Give a break.... Please send a more friendly user guide so I can use the receiver in a more pleasant way.... You better believe this.....I would never recommend or suggest this brand to a friend.

Could use more and more varied inputs, but performs well. I use this for my rec room system, have a more capable Yamaha in my family room. It's nice to have a similar user interface in both places.

Outstanding Value for the money. Yamaha has one of the best Amplifiers and perhaps the lowest THD on the market. Yamaha also does a great job with surround system technology. And MusicCast is easy to use and easy to play music from QoBuz, one of the best Hi-Res music applications on the market.

We are familiar with the Yamaha receiver RX-V4A and now have one installed in each floor of our house. Part of the product's appeal is the Musiccast feature but also the reliability record from years of use. The documentation is well done and the feature set is commensurate with the investment amount.

I changed from another leading brand to the Yamaha by a recommendation from a friend who installs A/V stuff professionally I am an audio file and also a heavy audio person I'm impressed with the power and clean sound it brings to my monitor audio speaker speakers I was interested more in a different brand of receiver which by cost was a little more than the Yamaha and had less power. I'm super happy I went with this amplifier, although I am well-versed on running surroundsound receivers because I have probably had five different ones with three different brands. I have never had a Yamaha one. I'm glad I went with my friends recommendation because.this receiver is amazing there is a little bit of a learning curve getting the right settings but over all it has been a pleasant experience I would highly recommend this receiver to anybody looking for a decent price on a five channel surround sound receiver I have a PlayStation five running into the receiver and then the receiver running into a Samsung 80 inch TV. I used an optical cord and two high-grade HDMI cables a much better choice. I recommend not buying cheap HDMI cables and definitely buy cables rated to the speeds of what you are using them for the receiver, recognized my TV and my PlayStation five without me having to do much except plug it in and turn it on impressive

Nice value for money AVR, speaker binding ports could have been of better quality. There is a scope for UI improvement as well.

Great, powerful, nice design at a good price. Two things not prefect is the screen on it, to small and difficult to read things on it and the remote not really easy to use it.

This system is a true surround sound system. Great for watching movies. I am using the E Arc. When I turn the TV on the system turns on and I can use the TV remote to control the volume. I recommend this system to anyone and everyone.

This receiver is great. It has wifi, bluetooth, HDMI, two sub outs, and it can cast to Yamaha Music cast speakers wirelessly. You can also send audio to one of two sets of speakers if you like. It has decent power and for the price, it is absolutely unbeatable. I got this one to replace another Yamaha HDMI receiver I bought about 15 years ago that finally gave out. It had far less technological capabilities and it actually cost more than this one. You will hardly find a receiver with the features and capabilities of this one at the price point of this Yamaha receiver. I hope this one lasts as long. If not, I'll just replace it with another Yamaha receiver. I only use Yamaha receivers.

This little unit is a big step up from my giant Pioneer surround sound in terms of separation and clarity. For the price, sound is excellent and surround is internally balanced very well. I recommend this as an entry level system receiver/amp. I have it hooked into theater, CD, DVD. I needed to buy a separate phone pre-amp to hook up my table. That was only downside.

I have to reboot the unit frequently to get it to reset and operate properly. I shouldn't have to do this with a new unit.

It's been many years since I've been able to enjoy the sound from a Yamaha. But thanks to Crutchfield and an excellent price, I'm able to enjoy impeccable sound. Too many systems today are way over priced. Yamaha is trying to keep it versatile, affordable, and most of all enjoyable. I love the ability to use different pre-programmed sound venues.

I found the set up challenging. The process for turning pre sets and so forth off and on is dense at best. The sound quality and ease of use once set up is outstanding.

solid sound quality.. but two college degrees doesn't make it any easier to learn how to use this receiver you need the remote for basically everything.. had the thing for a few months.. with help from customer service I finally managed to hook up spotify.. still couldn't tell you how to do the most basic things like adjust the bass or treble

We purchased this receiver to connect to our Bose Acoustics home theater system. The sound is great both for the movies & music. One small issue is that for some content, the surround speakers doesn't give any output for certain music modes. It could be related to our system being old but overall the product is good and we are happy with the sound.

After a couple of months of use, I am very pleased with my RX-V4A. I use it primarily for Pandora and Bluetooth streaming from my phone to two zones, and the occasional Blu-Ray movie. The WiFi and Bluetooth performance is far superior to the more expensive unit from another big-name company that I replaced with it. The TV and MusicCast app user interfaces are pretty good designs. The MusicCast app took a little while to get used to navigating, but it is very responsive and has not frustrated me at all. The Pandora control features available through MusicCast are a little limited compared to the Pandora app. I have no legitimate complaints about the sound quality. I have not spent much time exploring the sound settings. I very much appreciate the unit's low power consumption and power management.

Bought this receiver to replace a unit stolen from my motorhome. It was very easy to install and setup. I now have 3 Yamaha receivers and the reason I keep coming back to Yamaha is because they know sound! They YAPO microphone setup and selection of sound stages they can replicate are unmatched. The sound quality is absolutely amazing. The ease of use thru their apps for setting up and controlling the sound just makes everything that much more enjoyable.

An Outstanding Receiver

This is an update from a previous Yamaha that lasted years. I am not disappointed with this product and would buy another Yamaha when (and if) the time comes.
