I use this particular keyboard in my music studio in my home, and play mostly just for my own enjoyment. Ballads, contemporary, easy listening type of songs. The reason that I'm here is because my keyboard recently started having an issue - it completely stopped producing any sound at all when I press down on the C, B & F keys, and it does this consistently, all the way up and down the keyboard on every single octave.

I use a 3-keyboard setup in my band. I like a weighted keyboard on the bottom, but the DGX-660 did not fit on my On Stage stand. So I cut the ends off. Now it fits. Yay! Still is one heavy sumbach. The gray-on-black lettering is pretty hard to read, especially in low light, but it is tasteful and attractive, I suppose. I like having the 88 keys, and yes, I do use that low A. Often. This is a solid, good-sounding instrument, and I would recommend it, except that the DGX-670 is even better.

Thinking back, to with what I have started with approx. 32 years ago? Then this is BRILLIANT. I have to start this review with applicable to "THIS PRICE CLASS". I could wish for more, more features, more accompaniment back ground sounds, but, for this price class, I think the DGX 660 is very good. Good sound, good feel. Yes. very and many Professional players will differ, but, this review, is mine, not every one else's. And this is what I could afford.

The sound is great for not being an actual piano. I like that you can use headphones and not disrupt everyone else in the house.

The sound is great. There are so many options. I like that you get the grand piano sound without the size of an actual piano. We did have to wait two months before we received it which was a downer.

We use this for lessons for myself and daughter. It’s been a great piano. Better than most keyboards out on the market.

Can't beat the prices here. Bought this to surprise my husband who had a long dormant dream to learn piano. Has great sound without a huge price. He loves it. Shipping was prompt.

Having never owned a piano, and only taking one semester of piano in college makes me an "expert" novice. Which means this is perfect for the beginner all the way up to the pro. You wouldn't take this on stage, but perhaps a permanent fixture in the home or studio. Almost perfect for me because all I wanted was a piano, not being able to afford a "real" piano, this is the next best thing. The piano voices are dead on and the other voice effects are a huge bonus. Great, realistic action and weight. Very nice speaker sound quality. Something a novice can grow into. All the buttons, switches, controls and screens can be intimidating and difficult to learn their functions. After seven months, I just started getting away from "piano" into some of the other sounds. Not by any means a toy!

It's better overall than my previous Yamaha PSR 740 keyboard, except I can't find the vibrato function. I'm disappointed if it's not there somewhere. The PSR vibrato dial worked OK -- but I expected this newer keyboard would improve on it, and yet it seems to not even have this function.

This was not my first choice! I originally went with the much more feature rich Casio CPG-700, but ended up returning that due to problems with Casio Tech Support. So, thanks to Casio, I decided that it was much safer bet going with Yamaha. The 660 is a nice keyboard and the sound is certainly acceptable for what I was looking for. I wish they would include Synthetic Ivory Keys, and a much easier to use menu, as well as their highest end Piano Sampling, but these things are the most disappointing with the keyboard. However, the only other options in the sub $800 price range (that weren't Casio keyboards), all had poor speaker options and considerably lower feature sets. As somebody whose just learning, and bringing my whole family along for the ride, I'm very pleased with the keyboard over all and have been playing it for hours every day, since we purchased it. If you're comparing this to the CPG-700, remember you might get a better feature set, but if something goes wrong, you're going to be at their mercy! So, pass up on the competition and give the Yamaha a shot!

Please put information about styles / accompaniments with no drums / rhythms in the style / accompaniment section of the manual. If you are playing with a drummer you want to use these. I stumbled across it, after much searching, in the troubleshooting section only.

I would like to see an aux peddle jack for volume control (swell peddle or expression) to use the organ functions. Also output right and left jacks. It would be a great board with these additions. I love the instrument. Great feel and sound.

I just love to play piano, because my fingers need exercising that can speed and accuracy. When I learn these lesson on this first instrument, I played chord progressions, scales, arpeggios, intervals and other techniques like C.L. Hanon. This product is very expensive and I got to know it.

Everything is good, kid loves it. The sound is a bit too "electronic" but the touch is good for this price. I suppose that Yamaha purposely tunes the sound to be more electronic than what it can do so as not to impact the sales of higher end models.

I really love this piano but as I am learning how to using it, I was really excited about the 6 track recorder, but I was not happy that I'm not able to record my voice over itself on the different tracks. You can record audio with the piano, but your can't add the recording to one of the tracks and then sing over it again. This was a major disappointment, Now I can just record on my computer, but if this piano had this function then I wouldn't need to use my laptop. You were almost there Yamaha! WHY NOT?

World class concert grand piano sound with Pure CF sampling
The Pure CF Sound Engine is the result of years of piano-making history combined with state-of-the-art sampling technology and piano expertise. Yamaha is the industry leader in digital piano technology and you can hear this in the Voices that utilize the Pure CF piano sample. The sound of the renowned Yamaha CFIIIS 9' concert grand piano is faithfully reproduced, allowing for incredible dynamics and expressiveness, making the DGX-660 worthy of the Yamaha name.
An authentic piano touch with an 88-note weighted GHS keyboard
The Yamaha Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) keyboard features a weighted action with heavier touch in the low end and lighter touch in the high end, just like the hammers inside an acoustic piano. Great for the aspiring pianist, practicing on the GHS action builds the proper finger technique and strength for when the time comes to perform on an acoustic piano.
A truer sound with Damper Resonance
Damper Resonance digitally reproduces the sympathetic vibration between strings on acoustic pianos. Just like an acoustic piano, when the damper pedal is used in a performance, other strings add sonic color to the notes you play until the pedal is released.
Easy-to-read score and lyric display
The crystal-clear LCD can be switched to score or lyric display, showing you notation for any MIDI song that the DGX-660 is playing. Read the music for your favorite built-in songs or follow along with songs downloaded to a USB device from Yamaha MusicSoft. Even see the score for songs you've created yourself on the DGX-660!
Live!, Cool! and Sweet! Voices
Experience authentic guitars, lush strings and punchy brass with the highly acclaimed Live!, Cool! and Sweet! Voices. These Voices on the DGX-660 feature a unique blend of long, stereo and multi-layered samples that capture the essence of each instrument, right down to genuine resonance, expression and vibrato.
USB Audio Recording/Playback
Record performances or MIDI songs as uncompressed, CD-quality audio (WAV) to a USB flash drive using the Audio Recorder. From there, you can copy songs to your computer to make CDs, share songs over the Internet or transfer them to your portable music player. You can also playback uncompressed WAV files stored on a USB flash drive.
