Review Summary

Rated 5 out of 5

Great board for the money.

We purchased this board to supplement a Tricaster for livestream events. Its very flexible and gives us the ability to mix a few mics, provide IFB and talkback to talent, and to do a secondary mix for edit. The sound quality is good. It's a nice, compact, professional solution if you don't need a lot of sources. This board gave us all the features we wanted, with none of the features we don't at a good price. Highly recommended.

Incompatable connectors

I use this in a Slant-top road case an d it's everything I wanted. However, when I plugged in the right angle connectors, the cable were "draped" the wrong way. There should be an industry standard for rack-mount mixers and mike cables with right angle connectors. The cables should drape over the back of the mixer.

Before you make your next audio mixing investment, consider the Yamaha MG16, a compact yet powerful mixer designed for a wide range of applications. This versatile device is capable of handling up to sixteen simultaneous inputs, making it an ideal choice for live performances, studio recordings, lectures, and more.

The MG16 features eight mono mic/line combo input channels, providing flexibility for various audio sources. Additionally, it offers two stereo line input channels that can double as mono mic or line inputs, equipped with both XLR and stereo 1/4" inputs. To further enhance its versatility, the mixer includes two more stereo line inputs with 1/4" and RCA jacks.

Each of the channels from 1-12 is outfitted with D-PRE mic preamps, 3-band EQ, pan control, and a high-pass filter, ensuring superior sound quality and control. The D-PRE mic preamps are designed with an inverted Darlington circuit and offer switchable 48V phantom power, making them compatible with both dynamic and condenser microphones.

For handling louder sound sources like guitar amplifiers and drums, channels 1-8 are equipped with 26dB attenuation switches. This feature allows you to manage high-volume inputs without compromising the sound quality.

The Yamaha MG16 mixer is designed with user-friendly connectivity in mind. It boasts XLR and TRS stereo outs for seamless connection to your PA system or monitor speakers. For personal monitoring, it provides a 1/4" headphone output with level control. Additionally, it offers extra TRS 1/4" stereo monitor outs for sending audio to powered speakers, amplifiers, or digital recording devices.

In summary, the Yamaha MG16 16-Input Mixer is a compact, professional-grade solution that delivers high-quality sound and advanced features for a wide range of audio applications.
