Let me start by saying this unit is well designed and fit my needs to update my system to include digital formats from iTunes and other digital platforms. I have vintage CS 99A Pioneer speakers which I recently restored the cabinets and had all of the internal component's service and replaced parts that had failed. I also have vintage tape deck, turntable and CD player. This replaced a tuner that just connected the components, so it was important to be able to connect my digital music to it. I use it daily to listen to iTunes, but also have the ability to listen to albums, CD's, and internet radio and Sirius/XM. my one complaint is that I could not get it to connect to WIFI or Bluetooth. I ran an ethernet cable to the unit and was able to connect and then connect to MusicCast. Remote works well and it will automatically connect to my computer and turn on when starting iTunes. I tuned the system speakers to the large family room using the YPAO and they sound great! When contacting customer service, they told me to take the new unit to a service center concerning the Bluetooth and WIFI. This would have been inconvenient due to the distance and then removing my banana plugs back to connect to the old receiver. I did not feel they were very helpful in attempting any kind of troubleshooting at the house and possibly not qualified on the unit. Since it has the warranty and extended warranty I will wait until I have other issues since I can connect to my network with ethernet cable. Even with the WIFI and Bluetooth issues, this refurbished unit was still the best option available in the price range I was looking for. There are very few options available to connect to vintage stereo equipment left in the market. This one had the connectivity and power to fit my needs.

I use this unit in my small home office where I work 3 to 4 days per week. It provides the perfect blend of power, convenience, and functionality. I have it connected via my home ethernet network and it performs beautifully. The YPAO feature worked great in achieving excellent sound in my small office. I have it connected to a pair of vintage JBL L20T speakers and a Polk subwoofer. I mainly stream music from my Mac over my home network and listen to FM news radio. This is an excellent unit and I highly recommend it for those who desire a no-muss, no-fuss, easy-to-set-up unit that delivers excellent, high-fidelity sound.

I was looking at the Denon DRA800 at first. But on second look, I was willing to pay the extra $100 for the Yamaha R-N803 over the Denon DRA800. The Yamaha has slightly better performance specs, but that?s not what?s really significant. The R-N803?s build quality justifies the price difference as its amplifier section is that of the Yamaha A-S801 integrated amplifier, just with the added receiver circuitry. It weighs 6 pounds more than the Denon which says something. This weight comes from a larger, high quality power transformer and the more robust dual cast aluminum heat sinks that keep the amplifier?s power transistors running nice and cool. This will equate to longer life, and a better value over time.

I added a set of Paradigm F800's and gave the old RX-595 to my kids. Only complaint, At +5 on the volume with some songs this thing powers down. Please fix it.

I have had this unit for 9 months now and it has been a nightmare. I bought this to use Airplay with my Mac and iTunes. Sometimes it works and then others it just disappears from the network. The MusicCast app keeps telling me "connection error". Aside from the Wifi connection the rest of the attributes work fine. Sound is good, radio receiving is good(with antenna). But for wifi it is very very poor.

I want to thank Yamaha staff "Tony" for Helping me find a like replacement for my RX-595. And Entertainment Expressions for other advice and obtaining a hard to find item. I thought my RX-595 was a super loud, clear stereo and it was at the time. but it holds nothing to my new R-N803. This thing is so clear it is hard to explain with my old speakers and same stored digital music. I can't explain just how much more definition I can hear with my 52 year old ears.

I use this to power a pair of Klipsch Forte IIIs. Great sound as usual from Yamaha. But the real story here is the incredible value of this amp. For about $750 you get as much power as their top of the line A3200 (at $8000!) and the specs are actually better. Then you get a very good integrated digital streaming capability that is at least as good as any streamer of $500 alone including Yamaha's own WXA-50. You get all the controls too, plus the YPAO room EQ, and of course built in MusicCast. All have worked flawlessly for me and over a wireless network. Sounds great wven at loudest volumes (which is after all table stakes). But this would be a deal at $1750 or more, not the $750 price. I've done a lot of research and comparisons and for the combination of power, sound, features, build quality, and price, this is by far the best offering on the integrated amp market.

Replaced a Yamaha CR-440 (1979) where the phone input left channel failed everything else works on it. Using the receiver with a Yamaha YP-B2 turntable (1979) with high end Audio Technica cartridge & Genesis II speakers (1979), Frequency response: 28 Hz to 20 kHz, Power 15-100 watts/ch into 8 ohms, sensitivity 89 dbl. My vinyl collection never sounded better paired with an efficient pair of speakers you don't need a lot of volume to fill a room. Like the fact that you don't have to use your iphone to listen to internet radio & SiriusXM after you download MusicCast unlike the Marantz N1200. Just wish you would add and update to Amazon Music like your MusicCast turntable so I wouldn't have to steam using my Iphone. Only have used for 2 days, In my opinion it needs a several hours of break-in. The room EQ setup is worth it (YAPO) during the configuration you can hear if there are any differences between the LT & RT speakers plus you don't have fiddle with speaker placement.Pure Direct is a plus. The MusicCast app works well on my Iphone XS just be sure to download the US version. Like I said after initial setup you don't need it if you are not using a multi room wireless setup. To sum things up if you just want HIFI stereo at a reasonable price and not into surround sound from your TV that will rattle the fillings in your teeth the R-N803 fits the bill well.

Upgraded from a SA-700 receiver because I needed the digital inputs for my new TV and DVD player. Also switched to digital for my CD player. This unit sounds as good or better then my old SA-700 and my $3000 Adcom separates that the first receiver replaced4 years ago. Smooth natural sound sound is neither mussy or in your face.

Happy to have purchased this model, does more than I'll evet need, not for A/V use, but the sound and quality of music it delivers makes it a winner. More that adequate at driving my Klipsch RP 150's. Happy with Musiccast too! Delivers so many options and turns my iPad into a powerful remote controller.

I have been an owner of a prior model, the R-N602, which I purchased earlier this year. I had seen the announcement of the R-N803 and was intrigued with the addition of some extra power, the removal of the captured power cord (so I could use upgraded power cord products) and, more importantly, the YPAO feature. I purchased this a few days after the release from an online retailer and it arrived within a couple of days. Setup was quite easy (since it replaced the R-N602 I could easily just change out the cords and cables for the corresponding ones on the R-N803). Function of the device has been very good, I have no complaints. It functions as the R-N602 does and drives my vintage Infinite Slope Model 1 speakers to more than concert levels if I desire. All the inputs are there, optical, Bluetooth, coax and plenty of RCA for my vintage cassette deck, reel-to-reel and turntable. The YPAO has added a new dimension to the sound, which was quite good before, but now just seems to have a slight bit of additional clarity and definition. By the way, I had purchased the R-N602 originally to replace a considerable amount of audiophile grade equipment and cables and cords in an effort to downsize and simplify and I have been well pleased with the results. I don't miss my old equipment at all. The MusicCast app has performed flawlessly for me, and the YPAO results were available in the app for me to view and tweak for my listening space. All in all this device, as well as the one that preceded it, has performed as expected. Note that some online have expressed concern about the gapless playback features of the Yamaha products. Gapless playback works as advertised for certain file types only. mp3 is NOT one of those file types so if you go into this with the expectation that gapless will be available and those are your files then it will be an issue. AIF, FLAC, ALAC and a couple of others do, DSD does not. All in all a very worthwhile piece of gear!!

Beautifully Brainy
The elegant design of the R-N803 is equally matched with powerful brainy internals - a full suite of modern technological and connectivity features make the receiver even more captivating and result in a receiver worthy to take home to your Wi-Fi and Hi-Fi.
Experience the Legend, Enjoy the Musicality
The legendary Yamaha Hi-Fi design concept ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) combines a meticulously symmetrical left/right circuit layout and signal directness (straightest, shortest signal paths) with a low-vibration chassis of high rigidity. The chassis is equipped with the special resin frame "Art Base" that absorbs and blocks unnecessary vibration. The result is sonic purity and an accurate stereo image of your music.
High Precision, High Performance
The R-N803 uses the renowned SABRE 9006AS 192 kHz/24-bit DAC (from ESS technology) to deliver superior signal-to-noise ratio performance. Combined with the Yamaha original network module, the unit thoroughly draws out all the sonic merits of high-resolution sound sources, effectively reproducing even the subtle ambience of concert halls and delicate expressive nuances in the sound.
Optimized for the Ultimate
For the first time in a Hi-Fi receiver, the R-N803 is equipped with the Yamaha Parametric room Acoustic Optimizer (YPAO), a famed technology used in Yamaha AV receivers. It measures the shape of the room, the material of the wall and the position of the speaker, then automatically adjusts the sound to create the ideal response and sonic quality. The unit also features other advanced YPAO functions, including YPAO - Reflected Sound Control, which actively corrects the important early reflection sounds that greatly influence sound quality and YPAO Volume, which applies exceptionally high-precision EQ (equalization), with 192 kHz / 64-bit operation. The result? You can create an ideal listening environment right in your home, just like that of a professional audio listening room.
Sound Purity
Pure Direct mode enables the music signals to travel the shortest possible circuit route, bypassing the buffer amp and the tone, loudness and balance controls to virtually eliminate any signal degradation, for the purest sound quality.
Pure Delight to Own
This receiver inherits the simple and sophisticated design style for which Yamaha Hi-Fi audio is famous. Its elegant simplicity beautifully complements your other Hi-Fi audio components. The stylish design with high-quality materials deepens both the joy of ownership and the joy of listening.
Sophisticated Circuit Design
The power amp block adopts a symmetrical and direct circuit layout based on the ToP-ART concept, featuring a parallel push-pull structure using a total of eight bipolar-type power transistors (four each, on left and right) as its output terminals. And by minimizing the lengths of the audio signal paths in the circuit design, we've lowered impedance to achieve superb drive power with a maximum output of 145 watts (per channel).
Wireless
The R-N803 is equipped with Bluetooth to let you enjoy music playback from smartphones and other devices.
